OfficeConnect®Secure Router(3CR860-95)About This Guide:This Guide takes you through the basic steps necessary to install and configureyour OfficeConnect Secure Router, and establish a connection from yourcomputers to the Internet. Throughout, the OfficeConnect Secure Router issimply referred to as the Router.Your package contains:● One OfficeConnect Secure Router● One power adapter for use with the Router● Four rubber feet● One Ethernet cable● One CD-ROM containing the Router Discovery program and the User Guide● This Installation Guide● One Support and Safety Information Sheet● One Warranty Flyer● Stacking Clip● License agreementSystem RequirementsBefore starting, you must ensure the following:● You already have a cable or DSL broadband connection to the Internet,with a suitable modem, and that this connection works properly. Themodem must have an Ethernet port for connection to your Router.● You have a computer that has an Ethernet connection available and isalready correctly configured for communication with the Internet. Yourcomputer must be able to connect to the Internet via the modem, andmust have a Web browser installed.● There are no other DHCP server devices on your local network that areresponsible for allocating IP addresses to your computers and other network-connected devices. We recommend you provide a minimum of 25mm(1in.) clearance.For details on using the rubber feet or stacking clip, refer to the UserGuide supplied in PDF format on the CD-ROM that accompanies yourRouter.3 Four LAN Status LEDsgreen (100Mbps link) / yellow (10Mbps link)If the LED is on, the link between the port and thenext piece of network equipment is OK. If the LED isflashing, the link is OK and data is being transmittedor received. If the LED is off, nothing is connected, orthe connected device is switched off, or there is aproblem with the connection (refer to the "ProblemSolving" section).4 Cable/DSL Status LEDgreen (100Mbps link) / yellow (10Mbps link)If the LED is on, the link between the Router and thecable or DSL modem is OK. If the LED is flashing, thelink is OK and data is being transmitted or received. Ifthe LED is off, nothing is connected, the modem isswitched off or there is a problem (refer to the"Problem Solving" section).5 Power Adapter socketOnly use the power adapter that is supplied withthis Router. Do not use any other adapter.6 Ethernet Cable/DSL portUse the supplied patch cable to connect the Routerto the 10/100 port on your cable or DSL modem.This port will automatically adjust for the correctspeed, duplex and cable type. Which means you canconnect to your Cable/DSL modem using eitherstraight-through or crossover cables.7 Four 10/100 LAN portsUse suitable cable with RJ-45 connectors. You canconnect your Router to a computer, or to any otherpiece of equipment that has an Ethernet connection(for example, a hub or a switch). These ports willautomatically adjust for the correct speed, duplexmode and cable type, which means that you canconnect devices to your Router using either straight-through or crossover cables.1 Alert LEDorangeIndicates a number of different conditions, asdescribed below.Off - The Router is operating normally.Flashing quickly ( 1/2 second on - 1/2 second off)- Indicates one of the following conditions:• The Router has just been started up and is runninga self-test routine.The Alert LED may continue to flash for oneminute or longer depending on your networkconfiguration.or• The system software is in the process of beingupgradedIn each of these cases, wait until the Router hascompleted the current operation and the Alert LEDis Off.Flashing slowly (2 seconds on - 2 seconds off) - TheRouter is in fail-safe mode as a result of one of thefollowing conditions:• The firmware has become corrupted. Install validfirmware, refer to the User Guide for furtherguidance, or• Loop back has been detected. Remove loop backcable and reset unit by removing power, wait 10seconds and then reapply powerOn for 2 seconds, and then off - The Router hasdetected and prevented a hacker from attacking yournetwork from the Internet.Continuously on (longer than five seconds) - A faulthas been detected with your Router during thestart-up process.
