Installer InstructionsWARNING: Failure to follow these instructions couldresult in death, personal injury, or property damage.• This circuit breaker is intended for use on single-phase grounded 120Vac 2-wire branch circuits.Shared neutral circuits where the neutral fromseparate branch circuits is combined to one neutralwire and returned to either breaker is strictlyprohibited with this circuit breaker.• This equipment must be installed and serviced onlyby a qualified electrician.WARNING: Turn off power to main breaker beforebeginning installation. Failure to do so will riskelectrical shock and possible death, personal injury,or property damage.Dual Function Circuit Interrupter (DFCI)Installation InstructionsInstall the DFCI using the following procedure:1. Open the DFCI by moving its handle firmly to theOFF position.2. Install the DFCI into the load center by pluggingor bolting the circuit breaker into the desiredcircuit location.3. Connect the coiled white “pigtail” wire from theDFCI to the panel or enclosure neutral bus terminaland secure it tightly. Uncoil pigtail as necessary(see connection diagram)4. Connect the white (neutral) load wire to the terminalside of the circuit breaker, identified by a silver-colored terminal screw, labeled LOAD NEUTRAL5. Connect black (hot) wire to circuit breaker terminalslabeled LOAD, identified by a gold-colored terminalscrew.6. Turn on power to main breaker, then close and testthe DFCI using the test rocker switch on the front ofthe breaker. Follow the Test Procedure indicated in thenext section.7. See Troubleshooting Guides on the next page on howtotroubleshoot a DFCI.WARNING: Do not reverse-feed. Do not subject tohigh-voltage or high-pot tests. Remove the circuitbreaker before high-potting occurs on the circuit orthe system.D E H 4 1 8 2 0 H O M EO W N E R & I N S TA L L E R I N F O R M AT I O NDual Function Circuit Interrupter (DFCI)Test Procedures (DFCI should be tested regularly, atleast once per month.)The test feature allows the homeowner to test the arcand ground detection capability by depressing a rockerswitch in two directions. The breaker has passed thetest if the TRIP flag appears in the window. Use providedTest Record Chart DEH41133 to record the dates thebreaker(s) are tested.• Arc Fault Test: Press the test switch in the directionlabeled “AF” to check the ability of the DFCI to detecthigh current arcing line-to-neutral or line-to-groundand to detect low current arcing in series with the load.• Ground Fault Test: Press the test switch in thedirection labeled “GF” to check the ability of the DFCIto detect ground fault currents.CAUTION: The DFCI must be supplied with powerfrom the load center in order for the tests to functionproperly.IMPORTANT: If the handle does not move to the“TRIP” position when either the AF or GF on the“TEST” button is pressed, the DFCI protection isnot complete. Replace the breaker immediately.Dual Function Circuit InterrupterNOTE: The neutral pigtail on eMCB’s (AFCI, GFCI andDFCI) can be cut to length in the field or extendedusing approved connectors. Additionally, eMCB’swith shortened neutrals can be installed as shownproviding a fast and clean installation.DualFunctionCircuitLED/Trip FlagTest Button120VacDuplexReceptacleLoadPowerWire(Black)LoadNeutralWire(White)Short White WireConnects to LoadCenter Neutral
