In addition tosupporting ADSL (Annex A), and ADSL2, theNetVanta 344 supports today’s most advancedADSL technology, ADSL2+, for applicationstaking advantage of its greater reach andhigher bandwidth, up to 25Mbps.Standards ProtocolsThe versatile hardware platform of theNetVanta 340 is further complementedwith the ADTRAN® Operating System (AOS).The AOS allows for the support of standards-based WAN protocols like PPP over ATMand PPPoE over ATM, static and defaultroutes, and allows for fast, accurate networkconvergence using routing protocols suchas BGP, OSPF, and RIP.SecurityThe AOS provides a powerful, high perform-ance stateful inspection firewall. It willexamine all incoming and outgoing packetsagainst the security policies established bythe IT manager. In addition, the firewall canidentify and protect against common Denialof Service (DoS) attacks like TCP syn flooding,IP spoofing, ICMP redirect, ping-of-death,and IP reassembly problems.With the ADTRAN OS Enhanced FeaturePack Upgrade, the NetVanta 340 supports upto five simultaneous IPSec VPN tunnels, andencryption algorithms like DES, 3DES, andAES. With this upgrade, the NetVanta 340 isfully compatible with ADTRAN’s IPSec VPNequipped NetVanta products: Ethernet switches,access routers, and VPN/firewall appliances.Quality of Service (QoS)QoS is also supported for delay sensitivetraffic like VoIP or video. To prioritize missioncritical traffic and control network congestion,the NetVanta 340 uses Low Latency Queuing,Weighted Fair Queuing (WFQ), Class-basedWFQ, and DiffServ marking to establishpriority of IP packets routed over the WAN.VoIP ReadyVoIP Ready In combination with the QoSfeatures, a specialized SIP Application LayerGateway (ALG) allows SIP traffic to traverseNAT enabled firewalls. For an enterprisenetwork, this interoperability allows IP PBXs,phones, and other SIP-based devices to setup, tear down, and pass voice and call controlmessages seamlessly through the integralNAT-enabled firewall.AdministrationAdministration The AOS offers a standardCommand Line Interface (CLI) that mimicsthe widely adopted, industry de facto standard.The sequence of commands to configuresimilar devices is almost identical, virtuallyeliminating training costs associated withre-learning a new operating system or costlyindustry certifications. The CLI also allowsfor configuration scripts to be used, saved,and downloaded for a quick and easyrecovery mechanism.
