GENERALFunctional OverviewThe ADTRAN T1 Nx64 HTU-R is a networkterminating unit which uses High-bit-rate DigitalSubscriber Line (HDSL) technology to transport T1data over copper loops. Each loop operates over asingle pair of copper wire and carries half of thetotal bandwidth along with a small amount ofoverhead for maintenance and performancemonitoring functions. Figure 1 is an illustration ofthe T1 Nx64 HTU-R.The T1 Nx64 HTU-R is a standalone unit whichcontains an integrated Data Service Unit (DSU).This eliminates the need for a separate DSU. TheT1 Nx64 HTU-R provides Nx56 kbps or Nx64 kbpsdata transmission capability. Possible data ratesrange from 64 kbps to 1.536 Mbps and 56 kbps to1.344 Mbps.Section 61245023L1-5BIssue 2, April 2000CLEI Code # T1L3DEDA_ _T1 Nx64 HTU-RInstallation and MaintenanceCONTENTS1.
