DatasheetThe Sure Cross® wireless system is a radio frequency network with integrated I/O that operates in most environments to eliminate theneed for wiring runs. DX99 wireless networks are formed around a Gateway, which acts as the wireless network master device, and oneor more Intrinsically Safe Nodes. For additional information, updateddocumentation, and a list of accessories, refer to Banner Engineering's website,www.bannerengineering.com/wireless.• Wireless industrial I/O device with two selectable discrete inputs and up to threeconfigurable thermocouple inputs (defaults to J-type)• FlexPower® technology driven by one lithium primary battery integrated into thehousing• One thermistor input used for integrated cold junction compensation (CJC)• DIP switches for user configuration• Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) technology and Time Division MultipleAccess (TDMA) control architecture ensure reliable data delivery within theunlicensed Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band• Transceivers provide bidirectional communication between the Gateway andNode, including fully acknowledged data transmission• Lost RF links are detected and relevant outputs set to user-defined conditions• DX99 Metal housings are certified for use in Class I, Division 1, Groups A, B, C, D;Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F, G; Class III, Division 1; and Zone 0 (Category 1G) andZone 20 (Category 1D) when properly installed in accordance with the NationalElectrical Code, the Canadian Electrical Code, or applicable local codes/regulationsModel Frequency I/ODX99N9X1S2N0T4X0D0 900 MHz ISM BandInputs: Two selectable discrete, three thermocouple, one thermistor (for CJC)DX99N2X1S2N0T4X0D0 2.4 GHz ISM BandThese models ship with the battery disconnected. To install the battery, refer to the battery replacement instructions in this datasheet.WARNING: Not To Be Used for Personnel ProtectionNever use this device as a sensing device for personnel protection. Doing so could lead to serious injury or death. This device does not include the self-checking redundant circuitry necessary to allow its use in personnel safetyapplications. A sensor failure or malfunction can cause either an energized or de-energized sensor outputcondition.Sure Cross® User Configuration ToolThe User Configuration Tool (UCT) offers an easy way to link I/O points in your wireless network, view I/O register values, and setsystem communication parameters when a host system is not part of the wireless network. The software runs on any computer withthe Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10 operating system.Use a USB to RS-485 adapter cable to connect a standalone DX80 Gateway to the computer. For DXM Controllers with an internal DX80 radio, connect a computer to the DXM Controllerusing a USB or Ethernet connection. Download the most recent revisions of the UCT softwarefrom Banner Engineering's website: www.bannerengineering.com/wireless.The USB to RS-485 adapter cable is not required for the DXM Controller. For standalone DX80Gateway devices use:• USB to RS-485 adapter cable model BWA-UCT-900 for 1 Watt radios• USB to RS-485 adapter cable model BWA-HW-006 for all other radiosSetting Up Your Wireless NetworkTo set up and install your wireless network, follow these steps.Disconnect the power from your Sure Cross devices.1. Configure the DIP switches of all devices.Sure Cross® DX99 FlexPower Thermocouple Node (MetalHousing)Original Document142681 Rev. O3 November 2017142681 |
