Once the legs are folded up, tighten the wingscrew to secure them.4. The footboard assembly can be folded by loosening the top set of drumkey screws onthe sides of the base casting and folding the assembly up, or held more permanently inplaying position by inserting the extra provided screws into the holes joining the bottomof the base casting and the footboard.4. Loosen the wingscrew at the top of the rotating leg assembly, unfold the legs, andtighten the wingscrew in the desired position. DW’s patented dual-leg assembly hasbeen designed to rotate in order to accommodate double bass drum pedals, stands andother set-up requirements. Rotate the leg assembly to its desired position and thentighten the key and wingscrews to secure the position.1.2.1: Mounting the MG-1 and MG-2 Mega Clamps (9502LB)1. For convenience, the MG-1 Mega Clamp comes attached to the tube on the MG-2Mega Clamp. The MG-1 is a standard “V”-”V” two-way clamp, with one side alreadyattached to the MG-2 tube.2. Loosen both the standard nut and the wingnut on the available side of the MG-1.3. Unhinge the wingnut first, then the standard nut.4. Place the clamp where you want it on a cymbal or tom stand in your drum setup.5. Adjust the standard nut so you can quickly loosen the wingnut and remove theassembly easily in the future.1.2.2: Mounting the 776L DogBone™ (9503LB)1. The DogBone™ has a “V” clamp at both ends and works like the “V” clamp describedin section 1.2.1.2. Loosen both the standard nut and the wingnut on both ends of the DogBone™.3. Unhinge the wingnut first, then the standard nut.4. Place the clamp where you want it on a cymbal or tom stand in your drum setup.5. Adjust the standard nut so you can quickly loosen the wingnut and remove theassembly easily in the future.1.3: Hi-Hat Tube1. Separate the hi-hat clutch by loosening the drumkey screw, unthreading the bottomnut and removing the lower felt washer.2. Place the top hi-hat cymbal on the clutch stem so that the top of the bell rests onthe top felt washer and replace the bottom felt below the cymbal.3. Thread the bottom nut back onto the stem until it stops.4. Adjust the lower of the two knurled nuts at the top of the clutch to achieve thedesired space between the cymbal and the felt washers and lock the position bytightening the upper knurled nut against the lower one.5. Loosen the nut at the cymbal seat and remove top felt only. Place the bottom hi-hatcymbal on the cymbal seat located at the top of the upper tube so that the upper rodcomes through the mounting hole in the cymbal and the bell rests on the cymbal seatfelt. Place the felt and the nut back over the rod and tighten the nut.6. Place the clutch/cymbal assembly (finished in Step 4) over the rod so that the topcymbal rests on top of the bottom cymbal.7. Place the 505 Drop-Lock clutch over the rod and lower it until the clutch securelyclamps on to the top of the clutch holding the top cymbal.8. Depress the pedal and, when the desired space between the cymbal is achieved, tighten the wingscrew on the drop-lock clutch.9. To further secure this position for more intense playing situations, reach between thecymbals with a drumkey and tighten the drumkey screw on the clutch.2.2: Bottom Cymbal Angle AdjustmentThe lateral adjustment mechanism at the top of the upper tube is designed to adjust theangle of the bottom hi-hat cymbal and enhance the cymbals’ performance and soundCustomizing Your Pedal with the DW Hi-Hat Pedal Customizing Kit(part #1236, sold separately)Elevator Heel Platform (U.S. Patent No. 6359205)DW’s advanced 9-Position “Elevator” Heel Plates provide aunique method for drummers to achieve a more comfortablepedal playing position without sacrificing speed, power or accura-cy. By using different combinations of the heel sections, the heightof the heel can be adjusted independently of the angle of thefootboard. The “Elevator” positions range from normal (#1) andslightly elevated (#2-3) to raised (#4-7) and extreme (#8-9). Posi-tion #8, for example, is recommended for achieving a smoother, more effortless heel-toe sliding technique, while positions #2 and#3 offer a subtle but effective way to increase control. To install the Elevator heel sections, first turn the pedal overand remove the three screws holding the original heel (A) to thepedal plate. In order to loosen chemical lock holding the threescrews, you may first need to heat them with a hair dryer for 2-3 minutes. Place additional Elevator heelsections (B, C) either below or above the original section and re-attach the stacked heel sections using thelonger screws (provided). The following chart indicates which screws (supplied) should be used in conjunc-tion with the Elevator heel sections to modify the height of your heel.heel positionheel sections top screws bottom screws#1 A 3/4” -#2 A/B 3/4” -#3 B/A 7/16” 7/16”#4 A/C - 1 1/4”#5 A/C 3/4” 7/16”#6 A/C/B 3/4” 3/4”#7 B/A/C 7/16” 1 1/4”#8 C/B/A - 1 1/2”#9 C/B/A 1 1/4” 7/16”1 2 34 5 67 8 9ABC505 Drop-Lock Clutch(379 Standard Clutch on 9503LB)Hi-Hat RodCymbal SeatCymbal Angle AdjustmentHi-Hat TubeMG-2 Mega Clamp (with tube)(776L V-V DogBone™ on 9503LB)Cable Tension AdjustmentCable HousingTube ReceiverCable (2’, 4’, 6’, 8’ or 10’)Rotating Leg AssemblyBase CastingAdjustable SpursFootboard AssemblyPedal Plate9502LBMG-1 Mega Clamp(9502LB Only)(Cymbal Stand not included) |
