IMPORTANT INFORMATIONPlease read all warnings and instructionsbefore use. Correct application is essential forproper product function and to reduce the risk ofinjury or re-injury inherent with the use of any brace.INTENDED USEThe DeRoyal® Arm Sling is used for cast support,injuries to the arm, wrist or hand, acromioclaviclularsprains, and anterior glenohumeral dislocations.CAUTIONS• A physician or properly licensed practitioner (a“prescriber”) who is familiar with the use andpurpose of this brace must fit it to the user.The prescriber has a duty to provide wearinginstructions and risks related to the use of thisbrace to other healthcare practitioners treatingthe users and the users themselves, includingduration of use. The instructions provided in thissheet do not supersede hospital protocol or directorders of the prescriber. Use only as directed.• Prolonged usage can result in muscle atrophyin the user. The user may require (1) a weaningperiod from the brace to build muscle strength(2) regular physical therapy exercises to maintainthe strength of the shoulder (3) a limitation onduration of use or (4) some combination of these.• Inspect brace for damaged or missingcomponents before use.• Discontinue use and consult your prescriber ifthe brace or its components break or becomedamaged.• Inspect the fit of the brace on the patient toensure fit is proper. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.Check regularly to ensure circulation is notcompromised.• Consult your prescriber immediately if youexperience sensation changes, unusual reactions,swelling or increased pain while using this brace.Discontinue use if pressure injuries develop.• Wear clothing underneath this brace.• Take special care if the user is diabetic orhas poor circulation. These users may havedecreased skin sensitivity and are at greaterrisk for poor peripheral circulation and pressureinjuries.INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE1. Attach shoulder pad byinserting strap throughopenings (if applicable). Slidestrap to desired position sothat the foam sits comfortablyon the patient’s shoulder.2. Place affected arm in sling sothat the arm rests in the foldof the sling against. Patientselbow should be pressed backsnuggling fitting in the sling.3. Place thumb in thumb loopto prevent wrist drop (ifapplicable).4. a.) Bring strap behind patientneck and over oppositeshoulder. If hook and loopclosure - bring strap throughthe O-ring(s), adjust to properheight and secure b.) If buckleclosure, bring strap throughbuckle and pull the strap toadjust to proper height.5. When applicable, use slidingbuckle in back to adjust forproper fit.6. Make sure sling supports armsecurely.NOTE: If the arm sling is fitproperly, the pouch should extendto the first joint on the little finger(the P.I.P. Joint). The arm sling should also be slightlyelevated to help prevent edema.CARE INSTRUCTIONS (IF APPLICABLE)Hand wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent.Air dry completely prior to wearing.STORAGE AND TRANSPORT CONDITIONSKEEP DRYKEEP AWAY FROM SUNLIGHTARM SLINGSINGLE PATIENT USENON-STERILENOT MADE WITH NATURAL RUBBER LATEXRX ONLY FEDERAL U.S.A.
