Product features include alarge aperture, switch-selectable inputsand outputs and isolation between primary andsecondary circuits. A patented technologyeliminates the use of a magnetic core and protects thesensor against saturation and damage, which can occurfrom continuous exposure to high currents. Models availableup to 400A and with 0-5/0-10V DC or 4-20 mA outputs as standard. TheEPRM Series is also available in True RMS, for working with nonlinearloads in “noisy” power environments.PATENTED PROTECTION TECHNOLOGYThe EPRM Series of current sensors features a patented technologythat eliminates problems associated with magnetic circuits such as coresaturation. The sensor will not be damaged by momentary periods ofhigh current, and the output from the sensor is limited to protect thesignal input device.QUICK INSTALL GUIDEThe below steps can be followed to quickly install a CurrentWatch™EPRM Series sensor.1. Run the wire to be monitored through the cable guide and aperture2. Mount the sensor to a standard DIN rail3. Connect output wiring with the provided terminal blocka. Use up to 12 AWG copper wiresb. For voltage output models, make sure output load is at least10 kilohms4. Choose the correct current range by positioning the Range SwitchINSTALLATIONConsiderations for all EPRM Series sensors…• Place the wire in which current is to be monitored through thecable guide and aperture of the sensor• Insert a flat blade screwdriver into the gap next to the split coresensor head, and gently turn the screwdriver to release the latch• Repeat for the opposite side of the sensor head, and the top willcome straight off the sensor body• To clamp the sensor head, place it on the axis and press downfi rmly until the latches clip in place• Mount the EPRM unit directly onto a standard DIN rail• Note: This sensor is not directionally sensitive and can be mountedin any position or hung directly on wiring with use of wire tiesSETPOINT ADJUSTMENTThe CurrentWatch™ EPRM Series sensors feature field selectableranges. The ranges are factory calibrated, eliminating time consumingand inaccurate field setting of zero or span.Selecting Range1. Determine the normal operating amperage of your monitoredcircuit2. Select the current range that is equal to or slightly higher than thenormal operating amperage3. Place the Range Switch in the appropriate positionP51928 Rev 03Effective: May 2010 Page 1WARNINGQuestions?
