Fein ASb 110 Operating Instruction
ASb 110To be handed to the workshop!Operating instructionfor the Impact Wrench type ASb 110 (three phase A. C.)and ASb 110 K (42 Volts)1. ConstructionThe percussion mechanism of the Impact Wrench A Sb 110 isdriven by a robust, fan-cooled AC-motor. All housing parts aremade of light alloy, the two side handles of high qualit y shock-proof plastic material. Gearings and percussion mechanism aremounted in the tool-head. The construction is well-balanced andclear. The tool holder complies with intern at ional standards andhas a 1" (25,4 mm) square drive. The impact wrench can be adjusted f or clockwise and anticlock-wise rotation. The reversing switch is mounted in the left-handhandle and must only be operated at standstill of the machine .3. Mode of OperationThe motor drives the tool holder with tool attached via gearingand percussion mechanism. The direct drive is cut out as soonas the screw or nut has been roughly run down. Once the motorreaches its rated load, the percussion mechanism comes intooperation and converts the drive force of the motor - whichcontinues to run at uniform speed - into an intermittent torquewith two strokes for each revolut ion of the dri ve assembly.Screws and nut s are slackened in reverse order: first percussionstrokes, followed by direct drive. The tool is easy to h an dle, asthe operator needs not exert any restraining torqu e . As th eclutch w ill a lways disengage as soon as th e rat e d l oad isattain ed, the motor cannot be overloaded.4. ApplicationThe full tightening or slackening action provided depends on thetime during which the percussion mechanism is allowed to run.Max. tightening torque is the sum of the torques applied by eachstroke. According to the typ e of screwed connection th e max .torq ue will generally re present between 60 and 120 s in gle torqu estrokes, which are appli e d in 3 to 5 seconds. Ava ilabl e max.torque in normal servic e is 360 lbs.ft (50 kpm ) (see diagrammp. 4). There is no point in app ly ing the tool for long er than 5BE 163 /e X 8. 66 Printed in GermanyISpeed R.P.M. Alwa ys secure attachments with securing pin andrubber supporting ring , otherwise the square-dri ve is liable tobreak .5. Maintenance and LubricationThis w ill depend on the dut y . Th e following instructions are fo rcontinuous us e in 8-hou r day with actual tool running timerepresenting 40 Ofo of total c!.uty period. The tool holder (5 4)should be lubricat ed every o the r day by means of t he oiler (56)at the outer bearing (55). (Use machine oil or thin-flowing grease .)The percussion mechanism should be completely cleaned of oldgrease at least every 300 hours (approx. 6 weeks). For this pur-pose remove the 6 screws (60, 61). then take off theouterbearing(55) and lift the percussion mechanism out of th e intermediatebearing without taking it apart. Then apply grease FK 3 liberall yto the impact fac es of par ts (53) and (54). Ball pivots (48) an dplanetary gearings (45) should also be greased w ith FK 3. Th etotal quantity of grease in t he percu ssion mechanism should beap prox. 150 g (5 oz.). FK 3 is a high - grade quali ty grease and issuitable for all percussion mechanism parts because of its goodheat resistance. Ball bearing grease packing s should also bereplenish e d with FK 3.If, after long duty, the impact dogs of percussion piston (53) andtool holder (54) are worn they must be reground so that themachine reaches its full tightening torque. Damaged percussionme chanisms should be dismantled according to the instru ctionsof page 4.
