Toensure the best possible conditions for EMC performance within theconstraints imposed by any location, always ensure the maximumseparation possible between different items of electrical equipment. For optimum EMC performance, it is recommended that whereverpossible:FELL equipment and the cables connected to it are:• At least 3 ft. (1 m) from any equipment transmitting or cablescarrying radio signals e.g. VHF radios, cables and antennas. In the case of SSB radios, the distance should be increased to7 ft. (2 m).• More than 7 ft. (2 m) from the path of a radar beam. A radarbeam can normally be assumed to spread 20 degrees aboveand below the radiating element.• If possible the product is supplied from a separate batteryfrom that used for engine start. Power supply voltages belowthe minimum specified 7V power source, and starter motortransients, can cause the product to reset. This will not damagethe product, but may cause inability to start the engine.• FELL specified cables are used. Cutting and rejoining thesecables can compromise EMC performance and must beavoided unless doing so is detailed in the installation manual.MARCH 2018 © FELL Technology AS Page 1/9REV200-0318 |
