The probe is warrantedfor a period of six months. This warranty is limitedto repair or replacement free of charge.Damages due to accident, misuse, tampering or lackof prescribed maintenance are not covered.If service is required, contact the dealer from whomyou purchased the instrument. If under warranty,report the model number, date of purchase, serialnumber and the nature of the failure. If the repair isnot covered by the warranty, you will be notified ofthe charges incurred. If the instrument is to be re-turned to Hanna Instruments, first obtain a ReturnedGoods Authorization Number from the CustomerService department and then send it with shipmentcosts prepaid. If any damage has occurredduring shipment, immediately notify your Dealer orthe nearest Hanna Customer Service Center.Each meter is supplied with:• HI 73311 EC/TDS probe• HI 73128 probe removal tool• batteries (4 x 1.5V) and instructionsNote: Conserve all packing material until the instru-ment has been observed to function correctly.Any defective item must be returned in itsoriginal packing.PRELIMINARY EXAMINATIONHI 98311 and HI 98312 are waterproof EC/TDS andtemperature meters. The housing has been completelysealed against humidity and designed to float.All EC/TDS readings are automatically temperaturecompensated (ATC), and temperature values can bedisplayed in °C or °F units.The EC/TDS conversion factor (CONV) is selectable bythe user, as well as the temperature compensationcoefficient β (BETA).The meters can be calibrated at one point.Measurements are highly accurate with a uniquestability indicator right on the LCD.A low battery symbol warns the user when the batter-ies are to be replaced. In addition the Battery ErrorPrevention System (BEPS) avoids erroneous readingcaused by low voltage level by turning the meter off.The HI 73311 EC/TDS probe, supplied with themeter, is interchangeable and can be easily replacedby the user.The stainless steel encapsulated temperature sensorfacilitates faster and more accurate temperature mea-surement and compensation.GENERAL DESCRIPTIONFUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONRecommendations for UsersBefore using this product, make sure that it is entirely suit-able for the environment in which it is used. Operation ofthis instrument in residential areas could cause unaccept-able interferences to radio and TV equipment.Avoid touching the probes at all times.Any variation introduced by the user to the supplied equip-ment may degrade the instrument’s EMC performance.
