It is intended tobe used as a “non-automatic“ balance, i.e. the material to beweighed is manually and carefully attached at the balance. The weighing value can be read off after a stable weighingvalue has been obtained.2.2 Inappropriate useDo not use the balance for dynamic weighing. In the event thatsmall quantities are removed or added to the material to beweighed, incorrect weighing results can be displayed due tothe “stability compensation“ in the balance. (Example: Slowdraining off of liquid from a container suspended from thebalance)Do not attach a continuous load. This can damage the meas-uring unit as well as the parts, relevant to safety.Prevent jolts, torsion and oscillation (e.g. by appending slop-ingly) of all kinds. Be sure to prevent overloading the balancein excess of the stated maximum load (max.), minus any tareweight that may possibly exist. This could damage the balance(risk of breakage).Important:• Always make sure that there are no people or materi-als below the load that could be injured or damaged!• The balance is not suitable for weighing people. Donot use as baby scales!• The balance does not comply with the medical prod-uct law (MPG).Never operate the balance in hazardous locations. The seriesdesign is not explosion-proof. Structural alterations may not bemade to the balance. This can lead to incorrect weighing re-sults, faults concerning safety regulations as well as to de-struction of the balance. The balance may only be used incompliance with the described guidelines. Varying areas ofapplication/planned use must be approved by KERN in writing.2.3 GuaranteeThe guarantee is not valid following• non-observation of our guidelines in the operatinginstructions• use outside the described applications• alteration to or opening of the device• mechanical damage and damage caused by media, liquids• natural wear and tear• inappropriate erection or electric installation• overloading of the measuring equipment2.4 Monitoring the test substancesThe metrology features of the balance and any possible avail-able adjusting weight must be checked at regular intervalswithin the scope of quality assurance. For this purpose, theanswerable user must define a suitable interval as well as thenature and scope of this check. Information is available onKERN’s home page (www.kern-sohn.com) with regard to themonitoring of balance test substances and the test weightsrequired for this. Test weights and balances can be adjustedquickly and at a reasonable price in KERN’s accredited DKDcalibration laboratory (return to national normal).3 Fundamental safety informationDo not use the hanging balance to transport loads.Prevent jolts, torsion and oscillation (e.g. by appendingslopingly) of all kinds.Never use the hanging balance over the maximumpermitted weight (!!Danger of breaking!!).Always make sure that there are no living beings ormaterials below the load that could be injured or dam-aged.The hanging electronic balances from the KERN CHseries are only suitable for hand-held use (see photo). They are not suitable for hanging from a mechanicalhook, e.g. a crane hook.3.1 Observe the information in the operating instructionsPlease read the operating instructions carefully before erectingand commissioning, even if you already have experience withKERN balances.3.2 Staff trainingThe device may only be operated and looked after by trainedmembers of staff.
