1GEM-PXCVProximity Reader CoverInstallation InstructionsR333 Bayview AvenueAmityville, New York 11701For Sales and Repairs, (800) 645-9445For Technical Service, (800) 645-9440© Napco 2004 WI1279 6/04GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe GEM-PXCV is a durable hard plastic snap-on cover de-signed to replace the standard cover of the HID Model 6005Bproximity card reader when used with a GEM-ACM1D Ac-cess Control System. These instructions detail the mountingand wiring procedures for the reader, and the installation ofthe GEM-PXCV cover.There are 3 LEDs associated with this combination:• The HID Model 6005B LED which provides the status ofthe access condition (door "locked" or "unlocked"). SeeTable 1.• Two LEDs within the GEM-PXCV which provide the statusof the system condition (system "armed" or "disarmed")associated with the access Area (see Table 2).Together, the GEM-PXCV is an indoor/outdoor proximitycard reader providing potted electronics, low power con-sumption and durability all in a small, easy-to-install package.LED IndicationsThe HID Model 6005B reader contains a multicolored LEDwhich provides visualfeedback as to accesscondition when accesscards are presented tothe reader.Table 1 below displaysthe LED indications andtheir meanings.The GEM-PXCV moduleprovides two LED's toindicate system status,as displayed in Table 2below:Stealth Mode is used to hide the ACMís Armed and StatusLEDs. When Stealth Mode is enabled, the GEM-PXCV sys-tem status LEDs are normally off but are turned on for 1 min-ute by any of the following events:• Press a request to exit button• Press a request to arm button• Present a valid ARM/DISARM or ARM card to the readerWhen Stealth Mode is disabled ("normal operation"), theLED's are always enabled and mimic the Keypad StatusLEDs for the following functions only: Armed, Disarmed,Ready to Arm, Not-Ready to Arm and Alarm. Note: Whenthe system is in alarm, Stealth Mode is disabled. "AccessOnly" cards do not affect the status of Stealth Mode.MOUNTING THE GEM-PXCVBefore mounting the card reader, always plan ahead and deter-mine the route all wires will follow before drilling into wall mount-ing surfaces.
