Description.Description. The GEM-SMK is a high-quality photoelec-tric smoke detector with built-in supervised digitally-codedradio transmitter. It is compatible with Napco’s GEM-RECVSeries supervised security receivers that monitor alarms, restores, low battery and status. The GEM-SMK sounds a local alarm as soon as smoke isdetected and the transmitter will send an alarm signal to thesupervised receiver. The alarm signal will be repeated every10 seconds thereafter as long as smoke is still present. Arestore report will be sent when the smoke-detection cham-ber clears. Supervisory status reports are sent from theGEM-SMK every hour.Coding switches are not required or used in the GEM-SMK. Each transmitter is assigned a unique identificationcode number at the factory. The smoke detector and transmitter are powered by two9-volt alkaline batteries (supplied) which can power the unitfor up to two years. If the battery voltage drops belownormal, a low-battery report will be sent to the receiver withany status or alarm transmission. If a low-battery conditionis indicated, replace both batteries. Note:Note: Temperature andhumidity extremes may reduce the life of the battery.GEM-SMKGEM-SMKSupervisedSupervisedDigital Smoke DetectorDigital Smoke Detector© Napco 1998 WI750A 12/96INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONSINSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONSNAPCO SECURITY SYSTEMS,NAPCO SECURITY SYSTEMS,INC.INC.333 BAYVIEW AVENUE333 BAYVIEW AVENUEAMITYVILLE, NEW YORKAMITYVILLE, NEW YORK1170111701Step 1.
