Before using the battery charger, read allthe instructions and caution markings on thebattery charger, the battery, and all of theproducts using the battery.b. Do not touch the uninsulated parts of the ACinput or the DC wires, the charger's bindingposts, or the battery terminals as there is apossibility of electrical shock.c. Batteries produce hydrogen gas whileoperating, which can explode if ignited.Never smoke, use an open flame, or createsparks in the vicinity of the battery. Ventilatethe area well when the battery is charging inan enclosed area.d. Batteries contain caustic material which maycause burns. Do not get in eyes, on skin, orclothing. If the gelled or liquid content of thebatteries contacts the skin or clothing, washthe area thoroughly with water. In the caseof contact with the eyes, flush immediatelywith clean water for 15 minutes and obtainmedical attention.e. Connect or disconnect the battery plug onlywhen the charger output is off to preventarcing or burning.f. Only qualified personnel should program orservice this equipment.g. De-energize all AC and DC powerconnections before servicing this unit. Ifinjury does occur, apply standard treatmentfor electrical shock and, if necessary,consult with a physician.h. The charger is not for outdoor use. Do notexpose the charger to rain or snow.i. Do not operate the charger if it has receiveda sharp blow, been dropped, or otherwisedamaged. Take it to a qualified servicecenter.j. Do not disassemble the charger. Have thecharger examined by a NATIONALRAILWAY SUPPLY service agent. DESCRIPTIONThe NATIONAL RAILWAY SUPPLY (NRS) chargermodel 24/30 is a convection-cooled, solid state,SCR regulated charger that provides either aconstant current or constant voltage output.
