Your new scope is the finestexample of Nikon’s rugged and durable construction and precision bright optics; importantqualities for a serious crossbow shooter’s scope.Whether you use your scope for hunting or for target shooting, the procedure for mountingis identical. You should acquire a set of high quality mounting rings which have astandard diameter of 25.4 mm (1inch). Follow the ring manufacturer’s instructions formounting procedures. After mounting the scope on your crossbow, follow the proceduresfor reticle alignment.Caution(1) Do NOT look at the sun through the crossbow scope. It will permanently damageyour eye. This precaution applies to all optical devices such as cameras andbinoculars.(2) Do NOT mount on any firearms since this is a crossbow scope.(3) The crossbow scope is effectively sealed against moisture and dust. You may useyour scope safely either in the rain or in dusty climates. To preserve the appearanceof the scope, we suggest that it be dried and cleaned prior to storage. Use a softcloth for cleaning metal surfaces and use photographic lens tissue to clean thescope’s lenses.When setting the reticle for hunting, you should determine your standard range and thenadjust the reticle based upon that target distance. For targets which vary from the standarddistance you may simply adjust the position of the reticle in relation to your target, or youmay wish to use the procedure for trajectory compensation. You can also go to www.Nikonhunting.com/spoton to compare, graph and enhance your reticle settings. Instructions(1) Focusing❶ Look through the eyepiece with your eye positioned about 3 - 4 in (7.5 - 10cm)away from the eyepiece lens, and you will see the BDC 60 reticle.❷ Be sure your eye is positioned within proper alignment and proper eye reliefotherwise the view will “black out.”❸ Point the objective end of the scope at the sky (Do not point at the sun) or at aplain unpatterned wall.❹ Turn the eyepiece adjustment counter-clockwise and then turn it clockwise untilthe reticle appears sharp.(2) Adjustment of the crossbow scopeSighting through the crossbow scope, align the crossbow with your aiming point onthe target and shoot a trial bolt. If the bolt does not hit the aiming point, adjust theelevation and windage, as follows:⃝ If the bolt hits under the aiming point, turn the elevation adjustment (counter-clockwise) in the direction of the arrow marked “U” for up.If the bolt hits high, turn adjustment (clockwise) in the direction of the arrowmarked “D” for down.⃝ If the bolt hits to the right of the aiming point, turn the windage adjustment(clockwise) in the direction of the arrow marked “L” for left. If the bolt hits to the leftof the aiming point, turn adjustment (counter-clockwise) in the direction of thearrow marked “R” for right.⃝ After the reticle has been adjusted to the point of impact, replace adjustment capboth the windage and elevation turrets.(3) Zero setting of scale gripThe adjustment ring has a pop-up adjusting system. After the reticle has been adjustedto the point of impact, for zero setting pull out the adjusting ring. The adjusting ringcan turn freely now, and align the zero number to index line, then release the ring. Itautomatically retracts to the original position.Waterproof Specification:The crossbow scope is waterproof, and will suffer no damage to the optical system ifsubmerged or dropped in water to a maximum depth of 1 meter for up to 10 minutes.The crossbow scope offers the following advantages:⃝ Can be used in conditions of high humidity, dust and rain without risk of damage.⃝ Nitrogen-filled design makes it resistant to condensation and mold.Observe the following when using the crossbow scope.⃝ It should not be operated nor held in running water.⃝ Any moisture should be wiped off before adjusting movable parts (Adjustmentknob, eyepiece, etc.) of the crossbow scope to prevent damage and for safetyreasons.To keep your crossbow scope in excellent condition, Nikon Vision recommendsregular servicing by an authorized dealer.Note:⃝ The windage and elevation scales of the Bolt XR 3x32 are calibrated to move the pointof impact ¼ inch per click at 20 yards.Maintenance(1) Lens cleaningTo remove dirt or fingerprint, soak gauze or lens cleaning paper (silicon-free papersold at camera shop) with a small quantity of absolute alcohol (available formdrugstore) and lightly wipe off. Wiping with leather chamois is not recommended as itis likely to damage the lens surface.Dust may scratch the lens surface or corrode the lens.Brush dust off using a soft oil-free brush.(2) Scope ExteriorUse a soft dry cloth to wipe off any dirt or fingerprints that might accumulate.It is not necessary to oil the scope’s surface.(3) Windage/Elevation AdjustmentsThese adjustments are permanently lubricated. Do not attempt to lubricate them. Coverwith caps supplied, except when adjusting, to keep out dust and dirt.(4) Eyepiece AdjustmentThis adjustment is permanently lubricated.
