It will howeverautomatically turn off when not used over 60 minutes.*5: Slave mode : Refer instruction below.The flash unit contains high voltage electric parts. Do nottry to open or repair the flash unit. Return it back to therepair service station or the store you bought it.Do not touch the inside parts from the opening when theunit was dropped and broken.Do not fire the flash direct to the eye at short distance. Itmay damage the eye. When taking flash picture especiallytoward a baby, it is recommended to keep the flash unit atleast 1 meter (3.3feet) away from the subject.Or use diffuser or bounce the light to the ceiling or to thewall to soften its intensity.Do not use the flash unit in the flammable gas, chemicals orsuch liquids. It may cause fire or electric shock.CAUTIONSDo not leave or store the flash unit in the temperature over40°C, such like in the automobile.The flash unit is not water resistance. Keep the unit awayfrom rain, snow and humidity.Do not use benzene, thinner or other alcoholic agents toclean the unit.Do not use this flash with the cameras which is not listed inthis instruction manual, otherwise it may damage thecamera’s circuitry.Remove the batteries when not in use for a longer period oftime.Set the camera’s shooting mode, select focal length and takepictures with Di466 on your camera.Di466 is a supplement to help your taking a creative and livepicture. Wrong insertionof each cell does not make electric contact.NOTE Before mounting or removing Di466 into or from thecamera, it is recommended to turn off the powerswitch of both Di466 and the camera.Set Di466 to the camera’s hotshoe and turn on the powerswitch.Di466 is automatically set for the camera’s TTL mode whenready lamp lights up.Press the shutter button of your camera halfway to focus thesubject.Take the picture. Di466 is fired and the result is immediatelyshown on the camera’s LCD display.When you change the focal length, The power zoom flash headof Di466 responds without delay and immediately sets itsposition to match the lens focal length you selected.The flash illumination coverage of Di466 responds to the lensfocal length of 16mm to 70mm (24mm to 105mm/film camerastandard).In all camera's shooting mode listed above, Di466 willfully work in TTL (ETTL, ETTL-II for Canon, and i-T TLfor Nikon) automatic-flash system.For a test flash, press the Pilot lamp. When using the test flashas an open flash, please note that the reference guide numberin this case is G.No.10 (ISO 100).To turn off the flash unit manually, press the On/Off switch for 2seconds.Nikon cameras;[P](Program), [ ](Full Auto), [A](Aperture priority),[S](Shutter priority) or [M](Manual);Loosen the lock ring and slide the mounting foot of Di466off the hotshoe of the camera. In this mode, the mode select indicator does not light.You can select the power,from the left to right,1/32 – 1/16 – 1/8 – 1/4 – 1/2 – 1/1(Full) power.Select your desired F-stop and/or shutter speed. Point thesubject and press the shutter.Set the camera shooting mode to either [ AV ](Canon),[ A ](Nikon), or [ M ].The color of mode selectindicator turns to Red asshown in the picture.Press the mode selectbutton.Set the picture frame as you desire and release the shutter.For portrait photography, pull out the light diffusing panel andplace it over the flash window as shown in the picture. Thediffusing panel makes the flash light soften and creates a livelycolor effect on the subject.Since the light diffusing panel expands the lighting area, itcovers the range of 12mm focal length lens(18mm for filmcamera standard).Turn the flash head upwards. It turnsupward to 45 > 60 > 75 > 90.When the flash head stays at turning ortilting position, the zoom settingposition of Di466 is automatically set atthe position for 33mm(50mm/filmcamera standard) focal length lens.The wall or ceiling in this case should be flat surface and whitecolor is preferable. Colored ceiling or wall may reflect its coloron the subject.For short distance or portrait flash photography, we wish if thelight is not too sharp or too strong to the subject. Use fill-inreflector flash or diffuse the light.TTL flash power compensationTTL flash power compensation is provided in 7 steps by half Evincrement for –1.5 –1.0, –0.5, 0, +0.5 +1.0, and +1.5ev.Set the Flash power level select button to the power level youdesire.When Di466 shows no level indication LED is turned, the flashpower compensation level is at even(0Ev) level as default value.Take a picture and the aimed subject is shown with requiredlighting effect by keeping the background exposure level asoriginally expected.Press the flash power select button, by each press of + markedknob, it sets the power of +0.5 → +1.0 → +1.5Ev. and the -marked knob sets it to –0.5 → –1.0 → –1.5Ev. The power levelindication lamp shows the power level you set.On some cameras, the TTL flash power compensation setting isprovided in its menu mode.When setting the TTL flash power compensation on yourcamera, the same of Di466 is, in this case, to be counted inaddition to the compensation you selected in the camera’smenu mode.With the latest TTL flashcontrol system, the flashpower level is alwaysautomatically controlled bythe camera for the mostappropriate exposure. Youwish if you can soften orweaken the flash light, orgive more light to the subject without changing the environmentalor background exposure effect Di466 can make it possiblequickly for each shot at respective occasion of flash picture.AF assist light emitterUnder the low light condition, in the dark place, AF assist lightwill automatically emit the beam and illuminate the subject, sothat the camera can easily focus the subject in darkness. Thebeam is however not shown in the picture.When the back ground of the main subject is too bright, thecamera’s exposure reading system adjusts the flash lightintensity for such back ground condition and it result the mainsubject underexposed. Or in case the main subject is notplaced in the center of the viewfinder, flash picture may resultthe aimed subject under or over exposure.You can lock the correct flash exposure for the aimed subjectin such a condition. This flash exposure pre-set remainslocked in, even if you change the aperture or zoom the lens inand out. This mode can only be set on the camera.When taking a picture of a baby or small children, do not shootthe flash straight on to them. Bounce the light off the ceiling orwall so that it won’t scare them.The lighting on a subject in front of the wall, creates anunnecessary sharp shadow on the wall resulting the picturedisappointed. Bounce the light off the ceiling orwall to soften the light on the subject,and the shadow fade out.Flash Power LockDi466 has a wireless remote flash system as a slave unit.You can enjoy creative flash photography with multiplelightings from the various directions. 2 slave modes areprovided, Slave 1 (S1: color green) for digital pre-flash systemand Slave 2 (S2: color blue) for analog flash system.Slave 1: In this mode, Di466 synchronize to the pre-flashsystem. The master flash is to be set at TTL(e-TTL for Canonand i-TTL for Nikon) mode.Slave 2: In this mode, Di466 synchronize to the traditionalsingle flash system. The master flash is to be set at manualmode. Studio lighting system synchronizes to this mode. Thismode is also available for open flash, and for a standard flashin the market.To reset the flash unit to the other mode, press the modeselect button for TTL and or Manual mode.Energy saving systemfor stand-by mode willnot work when it's inslave mode.Automatic shut offfunction is howevereffect. It automaticallyturns-off when not inuse over 60 minutes.WARANTEE :In case of the following reason of the defect, it may void thewarrantee. Or setthe camera for flashmode to alwaysfire the built-inflash.Wireless Remote FlashTTL exposure level is accurately calibrated for standardbalance in accordance with Nissin’s standard. If anyadjustment is however required, or if you like to set yourpreferable level, it can be adjusted for about ±0.75(3/4)ev.This adjustment can only be set when the flash is off.Insert the battery magazine with 4 batteries fully loaded asinstructed above.Press the pilot lamp andOn/Off switch both togetherand hold for 3 sec.The mode select lamp turnspurple showing the unit isready for TTL exposure leveladjustment.Press the power level selectbutton either + or - to adjustit to the required exposurelevel. Each LED shows0.25(1/4)ev increments andit can be adjusted up to+0.75(3/4)ev.(over exposureefficiency), or down to- 0.75(3/4)ev.(under exposure efficiency). Press the On/Offswitch for 3 sec. to turn the unit off. The adjusted level ismemorized and kept as customized default TTL exposurelevel. This setting is permanently kept until you alter thesetting to the other required level.Start to use flash unit from “Turn on the flash unit” at “BASICOPERATION” explained as above.TTL Exposure level custom settingIn some occasion, or for special expression, you may needyour own flash exposure instead of automatic controlledexposure. You can set Di466 for non-automatic flash mode,and select the desired flash power from 6 different levelsManual Exposure FlashFollowing functions are available on Nikon cameras. Refer tocamera owner's manual for details.The flash is controlled at a slow shutter speed to thecorrect exposure for both the main subject and background in low light conditions or at night.For Nikon Version onlyWith Canon cameras; FE lockAim the viewfinder centerover the main subject andpress [ ] button on thecamera (or [ FEL ] buttonon some cameras).Focus the subject.Set the Fv lock mode at themenu on your camera.With Nikon cameras; Fv lockAim the viewfinder centerover the main subject andpress[ AE-L ] button on thecamera (or [ AF-L ] button on some cameras).Setting master flash:Switch Di466 on and while theready lamp is on, press the modeselect button to select S1(colorturns Green) or S2(color turnsBlue). The mode select button turnsto TTL(nolight)—Manual(red)— S1(green)— S2(blue)and back to TTL.Setting slave flash Di466:When flash is set to either slavemode, the fist lamp of Flash powerlevel indication lamps is lighten.This lamp shows the 1/32 manual power level. Press theFlash powerlevel select button at marked + to select different power of1/16→1/8→1/4→1/2 and Full.Press the button at marked — to power downward.The power you selected is memorized and remainsunchanged untill the unit is switched off.Set slave flash at any place and direct the flash head as youdesire. Slave sensor may not respond to the master flash in theextremely bright condition or under the poor sensing situation.Use the flash stand included. Place Di466 on to the flash standwhich can be placedeither on the flat place or on the tripod by the screw.Set the camera for flash shooting mode. Point the subject andshoot.The slave flash will synchronize to the master flash and givesadditional lighting from the different direction you desired.Shooting the subject:NOTE Metal type accessory shoe is not recommendedsince it may give electric damage on the electricalcontact of the flash hotshoe.Slow shutter synchronizationTo prevent the subject's eyes from appearing read,Di466 fires three controlled flash just before thepicture is taken. Red-eye reduction can becombined with slow sync.Red-eye reductionIn rear-curtain sync., the flash fires just before therear curtain close.
