This is the earpiece. Thesmooth surface below the earpiece is the display. Immediately blow the display are three buttons in ahorizontal row: from left to right, they are FUNCTION, MUTE, and VOICE ENHANCER buttons.Below these buttons in the center of the handset is the NAVIGATOR KEY, which is a largerectangular control with four active areas. The active areas are at the 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock,and 9 o’clock positions. The 12 and 6 o’clock positions are the UP and DOWN keys and also controlvolume up and down during a call. The 3 and 9 o’clock positions are the LEFT and RIGHT arrowkeys. The 3 o’clock position is often used as ‘Yes’ key during programming. These keys are also theEDIT and CHANNEL keys respectively. To the upper left of the Navigator key, an oval button witha clipped edge is the TALK button. The oval button below the TALK button is the SPEAKERPHONE button. To the upper right of the NAVIGATOR KEY, an oval button with a clipped edge isthe OFF button. The oval button below the OFF button is the HOLD button. The HOLD button isalso the CLEAR button. Below these buttons is the keypad laid out in the conventional telephonearrangement with a “nib” on the 5 button. On the lower left below the keypad is the FLASH button.The FLASH button is also the CALL WAIT or VOICE MAIL button. On the lower right of thekeypad is the REDIAL button. The REDIAL button is also the PAUSE button. The indentationbetween the FLASH and REDIAL button is the microphone. The 2 metal ridges at the bottom of thehandset are the charge contacts. On the left edge of the handset, parallel to the TALK button, is theheadset jack covered with a little round rubber. This cover is opened from front to back, and is notcompletely removable. The triangular pattern of raised texture on the back side of the handsetidentifies the battery compartment. The battery door is opened by pushing in and down on this area.Base Unit:
