QSC GP218-sw Specification Sheet
GP218-swWideLine™ Ground-Support SubwooferThe GP218-sw is a premium, high-performance, rectangular dual 18" subwooferdesigned for ground stacked use in themost demanding touring or installed concertapplications. With an impressive combinationof punch, low-frequency extension andmusical accuracy, the GP218-sw is an idealcompanion for the acclaimed QSC WideLineseries as well as other professional soundreinforcement systems. For suspension in permanent installationseach GP218-sw subwoofer comes with atotal of sixteen (16) threaded M10 inserts(four per side). For ground-supported applications, thesubwoofers may be stacked horizontally usingtheir interlocking feet and recess featuresmachined into the enclosure’s top panel. The 18" woofers incorporate a double layerspider and triple roll surround for extendedand controlled excursion at extreme power. The 4" voice coil is wound on a fiberglassformer to prevent deformation at highoperating temperatures and is extensivelyvented to reduce power compression. Analuminum demodulating ring is employedfor low distortion. The extremely musical yet powerfulperformance of the subwoofer is the result ofcarefully balancing the transducer selection, cabinet volume and port tuning. The resultingsystem offers plenty of “punch” whilemaintaining ample extension so the musicallyimportant and satisfying fundamentals aresolidly and accurately reproduced. The enclosure of the GP218-sw is constructedof premium quality birch plywood finishedin an environmentally friendly, waterborne, polymer finish that stands up to life onthe road while also being field repairable.Extensive internal bracing is employed toeliminate acoustic losses due to panelresonance. Further contributions to cabinetrigidity come from vent walls constructed ofthe same plywood as the enclosure. Woofersare protected by a heavy-duty, 14 gauge, powder coated steel grille and housed inseparate chambers to prevent failure of onedriver from causing damage to the other.Despite the extremely large amount of airmoving in the ports, careful attention todetail has resulted in a system that is freeof port distortion “chuffing”. Ample port areaallows massive amounts of air to move freelywith minimal turbulence and the ports arearranged so as to eliminate asymmetricalloading of the woofers, which can result indistortion and voice coil failure related torocking-modes.Like its “flyable” brother, the WL218-sw, theGP218-sw subwoofer’s sonic performanceand output capacity are second to none. But for those who only need the exceptionalsonic performance, without the need forexpensive rigging and flying capability –the GP218-sw gives the exact same sonicimpact, but for a more economical price tag.QSControl.net™/ BASIS™ DSP files areavailable for download. They have beenfine tuned for use with the GP218-swand the WL218-sw to provide optimizedperformance right out of the box.Features• Very high acoustic output capability – 140.5 dB SPL(1m) peak• Tight musical “punch” combined with low-frequencyextension down to 27.4 Hz• Elegant transport and handling features includingan optional transport dolly plus soft cover and fourthoughtfully placed handles• Premium-grade, long-excursion, high-power wooferswith 4", fiberglass voice coils, double layer spiders andtriple-roll surrounds• 18 mm Birch ply enclosure with independent, dualchambers and extensive internal bracing for rigidityand solid, accurate reproduction |
