For the bestperformance and longest life, werecommend RadioShack batteries. R˝....You can also recharge Ni-Cd or Ni-MHbatteries inside the radio at home or in yourvehicle, using a 6V, 600mA AC or DCadapter and a size F AdaptaplugTMconnector (neither supplied). Both adaptersand the Adaptaplug are available at yourlocal RadioShack store. R˝....1. Rotate VOLUME/ON/OFFcounterclockwise until it clicks.2. Slide the battery compartment cover inthe direction of the arrow to remove it.3. Slide CHARGE ON/OFF inside thebattery compartment to OFF (foralkaline batteries) or ON (for Ni-Cd orNi-MH rechargeable batteries).4. Place the batteries in the compartmentas indicated by the polarity symbols (+and –) marked inside.5. Replace the cover. Then rotate VOLUMEON/OFF clockwise until it clicks to turnon the radio. If you installed alkalinebatteries, stop here.6. If you installed rechargeable batteries,attach the Adaptaplug to the adapter soTIP reads positive (+).7. Connect the Adaptaplug’s other end toDC 6V, then plug the adapter into astandard AC outlet or your vehicle’scigarette-lighter adapter. ±Complete charging takes about 10 hours.Average charging time varies, depending oncapacity. Typically, Ni-MH batteries chargein about 10 hours. Ni-Cd batteries charge inabout 4 hours.When charging is complete, unplug the ACor DC adapter from the power source, thendisconnect it from the radio’s DC 6V jack. #The battery icon’s segments appear to showhow much power remains.
