Standby Services1 Maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and electronics equipment andsystemsThe St.Lawrence Seaway Lock 4 Powerhouse facility is an unattended facility, comprisedof two vertical 5 MVA GE generating units with Francis turbines, originally placed inservice around 1930. It is fed from a 6300 foot long subsurface penstock located with anintake at lock #7. Governors are North American Hydro modified Woodward originals.Principal controls are through Quantum/Schneider PLC’s, and main breakers are Alstom.The powerhouse has undergone a major refit and rehabilitation over the last decade withmost mechanical components rehabilitated and electrical and controls replaced.Equipment and system specific repairs, replacements and overhauls will be performed bytechnically specific outside contractors at the Owner’s expense.The Contractor, through their experience and expertise, together with currentmaintenance practices, will work with the SLSMC to secure the long term viability of thepowerhouse.
