Please read thefollowing instructions carefully to become acquainted with some of theimportant features of your new lightweight electric fence. This high-performance device must be installed and operated properly in order toachieve the best possible results.Bear Shock is designed to provide safety and sound sleep while in bearcountry and to help protect you and your equipment from curious bearsby providing a surprising electrical shock when touched.UDAP Industries, Inc. has proudly produced one of the finest, highest-quality battery-operated lightweight electric fence systems available.Two D-cell batteries (not included) power the Bear Shock fenceenergizer. Because of the efficient electronic circuit design, two alkalineD-cells will last approximately 5 weeks under continuous operation,depending on fence and weather conditions.Bear Shock is fully adjustable and can easily adapt to mostenvironments. There is enough poly wire to fence an area 27 ft by 27 ft.A much smaller/larger area can be fenced by cutting/tying the polywire. If cut, the poly wire can later be tied back together if a larger areais preferred.This electric fencing system presents a mental barrier to an animalrather than a physical barrier. Once an animal is shocked, even though ithas not been harmed, it will respect the fence out of fear of beingshocked again.CautionBear Shock does notreplace recommendedsafety measures. Foradditional safety in bearcountry have UDAPPepper Power Bear Spray.Assembly Directions1 Pole and wire assembly1. Each corner pole will need to be assembled. Includedwith this product are 24 pole insulator clips. Installthree clips on each corner pole by twisting the clipclockwise onto the pole. Be sure that the open end ofthe clip is facing up. The portion of the corner polewith the metal insert is the bottom piece. Install oneclip in the middle of the bottom section of the cornerpole. Install one clip just above the metal insert of thetop pole and then install the third clip a couple inchesfrom the top of the corner pole. (See Picture)2. After corner poles are assembled place at the 4 - 8corners of your site. Depending on how many postsneeded.3. Push each corner pole into the ground at a 30-degree outward angle deep enough to keep themstable. Rocks or other material may be used asbraces stacked around poles if poles fail to stay inground.NOTE: The poly wire requires some pre-assembly. This is aone-time assembly process and does not need to be doneagain. Please read “Poly Wire Initial Assembly Directions”before continuing for the first time.2 Poly Wire Initial Assembly1. The spool of poly wire comes in three equal lengths of 110feet each.2. At one end ofeach wire tie asmall loop (See Picture). Once theloop is tied you may run the polywire around your fence.3. At the other end of the polywire complete the belowassembly.4.
