If the appliance is passed toanother person this instruction manualshould accompany it.• Before inserting the main plug into thesocket, check that the main supply voltageand current rating corresponds with thepower supply details shown on theappliance model label.• Never allow the heating base or the kettleto make contact with or be immersed inwater. However, should this happen, havethe unit examined by a qualified person.If repairs are needed, including thereplacement of the power cord please sendthe appliance to our customer servicedepartment.• Do not operate the appliance if it or thepower cord shows any signs of damage,or the appliance has been dropped.• Always remove the plug from the wall socketafter use or in case of any malfunction orbefore cleaning.• When removing the plug from the wallsocket, never pull on the power cord.• Children do not recognize the dangers thatCAUTION:THERE IS DANGER OF SCALDING FROMESCAPING WATER OR STEAM.• Do not touch any part of the kettle exceptthe handle (when the appliance is in use)and ensure that the lid is properly secure.• This appliance is designed for heating wateronly. Never put any other liquid into thekettle.may occur when operating electricalappliances, therefore keep children awayfrom such appliances.• Do not attempt to remove any parts of thehousing nor insert any metal objects intothe interior of the appliance.• To prevent damage to the power cord,do not let it pass over sharp edges.• Do not expose the appliance to rain ormoisture and do not operate the applianceoutdoors or with wet hands.• Use only clean, cold water.• The appliance operates at very hightemperatures.OPERATION GUIDELINESBefore using for the first time• Prior to initial use, clean the kettle by goingthrough several boiling cycles, using cleanwater with each cycle and filling the kettleto its upper marking. When the waterreaches boiling point, the kettle switchesoff automatically.• Place the heating base (5) on a firm andlevel surface.• Pour the desired amount of clean waterinto the kettle (3). Do not touch any partof the kettle except the handle (7).When the appliance is in use, ensure thatthe lid (1) is properly closed.• The amount of water can be measured bythe level mark (4) on the outside of thekettle. Always pay attention to the minimumand maximum levels and ensure that the lid(1) is properly and firmly closed.• Position the kettle in such a way on thebase (5) that the underside of the kettle fitsprecisely into the contact on the base.• Insert the plug into a wall socket.• Put the on /off switch (8) to its ‘ON’ positionto start the heating process. The indicatorlight in the water level window will turn on.• As soon as the water reaches boiling point,the on/off switch (8) returns automaticallyto the OFF position and the indicator lampwill go out. The kettle can also beswitched off manually by putting the on/offswitch to the OFF position.• The hot water may now be poured safelythrough the spout.• This kettle is equipped with a safety cut-outto protect the appliance from damage incase of inappropriate use.• Should the appliance be accidentallyoperated without water or if all the waterhas evaporated the safety cut out willautomatically switch off the heatingelement.1.
