HHSHopper Heating System Installation InstructionsDESCRIPTIONThe nVent RAYCHEM Hopper Heating System (HHS) is designed foruse with Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) hoppers, baghouse hoppersand material / dust-collector hoppers.It is highly recommended for all HHS heaters to be used in conjunctionwith a temperature control device. These instructions describe theprocedure for installation, storage and handling of HHS heaters.Carefully follow all directions.For technical assistance, contact nVent at NTMinfome@nvent.comADDITIONAL / OPTIONAL MATERIALS REQUIREDThe HHS heater must be installedcorrectly to ensure proper operationand to prevent shock or fire. Read theseimportant warnings and carefully followall the installation instructions.• All electrical wiring must followlocal electrical codes. Ground faultequipment protection must be used oneach heater branch circuit to minimizethe danger of fire if the heater isdamaged or improperly installedand to comply with nVent designrequirements, agency certificationsand national electrical codes.• Damaged heaters and connectionsmust be replaced. Do not attempt torepair or energize if damaged. Onlyqualified personnel are allowed toconnect electrical wiring. Disconnectall supply power at the source beforemaking any power connections. It ishighly recommended to never operateheaters without a temperature controldevice.• The end-user is responsible forproviding a suitable disconnectingdevice.• The end-user is responsible for providinga suitable electrical protection device.• Final installation / wiring is to beinspected by the authority who hasjurisdiction in the area that the heateris installed.• Approvals and performance are basedon the use of specified parts only.Do not use vinyl electrical tape orsubstitute parts.• Read and understand this entire manualbefore operating this electric heater.Leave these installation instructionswith the user for future reference.• Failure to observe these warnings mayresult in personal injury or damage tothe heater.Read and understand this entire manual before operating or servicing these heaters. Failure to understand how to safely operate theseheaters could result in an accident causing serious injury or death. These heaters should only be operated by qualified personnel and anyindividual who has not read and understood all installation instructions is not qualified to install this product. Additional copies of thismanual are available upon request.WARNING:WARNING: CAUTION:Approvals valid only when installed in accordance withall applicable instructions,codes, and regulations.Ordinary Locations• Never handle the heater while it is in operation; alwaysdisconnect the heater from the power source and allow forproper cooling prior to handling.• Inspect heater before use.• If spillage of foreign matter onto the heater occurs,disconnect from the power source and clean after the heateris allowed to cool.• Never operate a heater without an appropriate heat sink.(Device being heated is considered a heat sink).• Do not operate the heater above the rated temperature value.• Fasten the heater to the heated surface using approvedmethods only.• Do not repair damaged or faulty heaters.• Do not crush or apply severe physical stress on the heater orlead wire assembly.• Avoid hazards or unsafe practices which could result inpersonal injury or property damage.LIMITED WARRANTYnVent offers 1 year limited standard warranty for the RAYCHEM HHS.SAFETY ALERT SYMBOLThe symbol above is used to call your attention to instructionsconcerning your personal safety.
