Use caution.2) Familiarize yourself with the machine and itscontrols.3) Ensure the safety clutch control lever is in thedisengaged position. The safety clutchcontrol lever is located on the left handle bar.The disengaged position of the lever is down.4) Remove the shaft locking pin located behindthe wheel axle. Store pin in hole provided onleft hand side of handle bar.5) The wheel axle will now pivot. Lift up on thehandle to allow wheel axle to pivot. Fortransport, keep the wheel axle forward. Whencultivating, keep the wheel axle rearward foradded stability and control.DO NOT transport the tiller with the wheelaxle in the rear position.6) Adjust depth shoe (if equipped) by removingshaft locking collar and sliding depth shoe todesired position. Replace shaft locking collar.7) Open fuel shut-off valve. Set chokecontrol to Choke or Start position.Set throttle control to Run or Fastposition. Set enginestop switch to On orRun position. Pullstarter cord rapidly.Repeat (if necessary)with choke off.8) When in position to begin garden tilling, engage the safety clutch control lever. Thetynes will begin rotating. Wheel axle must be inthe rear position while tilling. Release thesafety clutch control lever to stop the tynesrotating. Tyne speed is governed by enginethrottle setting.WARNING! – KEEP HANDS ANDFEET CLEAR OF TYNES AT ALLTIMES!9) Do not hurry the job. Proceed slowly and allowthe machine time to do the job. When groundis extremely hard, reduce engine speed.WARNING! – IN CASE OF DIFFICULTY,DISENGAGE THE SAFETY CLUTCHCONTROL LEVER. ALL TILLING ACTIONSTOPS. Press the engine "STOP" buttonlocated on the engine.10) Stop Engine: Release the safety clutch controllever. Move throttle to Slow position. Set enginestop switch to Stop or Off position. DO NOT movechoke control to Chokeor Start position to stopengine. Backfire orengine damage mayoccur.AFTER USE1) Turn fuel shut off valve to the "OFF"position.2) Allow machine to cool down.3) Wash mud and dirt off of the garden tiller.Ensure no water enters the carburettor.4) Remove any weeds, wire, rope or othermaterial that may have wrapped around thetynes and rotor assembly.5) Return wheel axle to forward position fortransport. Replace shaft locking collar.6) Return depth shoe (if equipped) to full Upposition.© Copyright 2001, Red Roo Sales & Service Company Pty. Ltd. 1301-0018Commercial Environmental EquipmentRH918ROTARY HOE1) Remove the rotary hoe from its trailer.Use caution.2) Familiarize yourself with the machine and itscontrols.3) Ensure all clutch controls are in the"disengaged" position. The engine safety clutchlever is located on the left handle bar (fromrear) of the machine. The disengage position ofthe engine lever is down. The wheel shift leveris closest to operator (from rear) and the rotorshift lever is forward (away from operator) ofthe wheel shift lever (from rear). Both levers arelocated on the right side of the machine (fromrear). The disengage position of both the wheeland rotor shift levers is locked in towards themachine. Both levers are held in place withlocking hooks.4) DEPTH SHOE ADJUSTMENTControl the depth of the hoe with the depthcontrol bar at the rear of the machine. Thehigher the bar is set, the deeper the hoe willdig. It is recommended that the initial setting bein the centre hole for the first pass. Lower holesmay then be used to achieve full hoe depth.Where the ground is extremely hard try thefollowing technique. (a) Soak the ground withwater the day before you intend to do thedesignated area. (b) Use the centre hole on thedepth control bar at all times. (c) Pass over theground in a clockwise or anticlockwisedirection. (d) Proceed corner to corner in adiagonal direction. (e) Repeat step (d) in theopposite direction.5) Open fuel shut-off valve, if engine isequipped. Move choke control toCHOKE or START position.Note: Choke must fully close. Move throttlecontrol to RUN or FAST position. If engine is equippedwith rocker style stopswitch, push RUN or I(I = Ignition) beforestarting. RewindStarter: Grasp ropehandle and pull slowly until resistance is felt toprevent kickback. Then pull cord rapidly toovercome compression, and start engine.Repeat if necessary with choke off and throttlecontrol in FAST position. Operate engine inFAST position.6) Engage the wheel drive. Unlock retaining hookand pull lever away from machine. Engageengine clutch by lifting up on handle. The hoewill begin to move forward. Use engine clutchto start and stop while Rotary Hoeing.7) When in position to begin rotary hoeing, disengageengine clutch lever. The hoe will stop. Engage therotor shift lever. Unlock retaining hook and pulllever away from machine. Lift the engine clutchlever. The hoe will begin to move forward AND theblades will turn.WARNING! – KEEP HANDS ANDFEET CLEAR OF TYNES AT ALLTIMES!8) Do not hurry the job. Proceed slowly and givethe machine time to do the job properly. Whenground is extremely hard, reduce engine speed.Once again we must emphasise the need towater the area thoroughly and allow sufficienttime for the earth to soften.9) WARNING! – IN CASE OF DIFFICULTY,DISENGAGE THE SAFETY CLUTCHLEVER. ALL HOEING ACTION STOPS.Press the engine "STOP" button located onthe engine. (See illustration)10) Stop Engine: Do notmove choke control toCHOKE position to stopengine. Backfire or enginedamage may occur. Movethrottle control to SLOW position, then push rockerswitch to 0 (STOP), or turn key to OFF, if equipped.AFTER USE1) Turn fuel tap to "OFF" position.2) Allow machine to cool down.Wash mud and dirt off of the hoe.Ensure no water enters the carburettor.3) Remove any weeds, wire, rope, etc. that may havewrapped around the knives and rotor assembly.© Copyright 2012, Red Roo Sales & Service Company Pty. The further forward the speed Control, the fasterthe Rotary Hoe will travel. The faster speed is designed onlyfor transport. Use a slow speed for rotary hoeing and to adjustfor soil conditions.7)8)Tyne Control Lever - The tynes operate at a constant speed. The tyne drive lever must be moved forward or reverse whenhoeing. If an object becomes lodged in the tynes, put wheelDrive Control Lever in neutral and change tyne direction todislodge it.2) Free Wheel Hub Feature -Operation:Pull one free wheeling pin slightly, using thesplit ring rotate the pin until the 3mm (1/8”)diameter roll pin aligns with the slot in themounting plate.
