The Power-up Sequence 29The Power-upSequenceThe following sections describe how to get your Switch 3300 FXpowered-up and ready for operation.Connecting aRedundant PowerSystemYou can connect a SuperStack II Advanced Redundant Power System(part number 3C16071) to the Switch. This unit, which is also known asan RPS, is designed to maintain power to the Switch if a power supplyfailure occurs.For normal redundancy, the unit requires one Type 2 Power Module (partnumber 3C16074).For full redundancy, the unit requires two Type 2 Power Modulescombined using a Type 2 Y-Cable (part number 3C16078).CAUTION: Use only the SuperStack II Advanced Redundant PowerSystem Type 2 output and Type 2 cables to connect to the special socketon the Switch.Powering-up theSwitch 3300 FXUse the following sequence of steps to power-up the Switch.CAUTION: The Switch has no ON/OFF switch; the only method ofconnecting or disconnecting main power is by connecting ordisconnecting the power cord.1 Plug the power cord into the power socket at the rear of the Switch.2 Plug the other end of the power cord into your power outletThe Switch powers-up and runs through its Power On Self Test (POST),which takes approximately 12 seconds.Checking for CorrectOperationDuring the Power On Self Test, all ports on the Switch are disabled andthe LEDs light in the following sequence:n All unit LEDs lightn Module LEDs lightn Port Status LEDs light in a rapid cycleWhen the POST has completed, check the Power/Self Test LED to checkthat your Switch is operating correctly. Table 4 shows possible colors forthe LED.
