The Power-up Sequence 29The Power-upSequenceThe following sections describe how to get your Switch 3300powered-up and ready for operation.Connecting aRedundant PowerSystemYou can connect a SuperStack 3 Advanced Redundant Power System(part number 3C16071B) to the Switch. This unit, which is also known asan RPS, is designed to maintain the power to your Switch if a powersupply failure occurs. For normal redundancy, the unit requires one Type 2A Power Module(part number 3C16074A).For full redundancy, the unit requires two Type 2A Power Modulescombined using a Type 2 Y-Cable (part number 3C16078).CAUTION: The Switch can only use a SuperStack 3 Advanced RedundantPower System output.Powering-up theSwitch 3300Use the following sequence of steps to power-up the Switch.CAUTION: The Switch has no ON/OFF switch; the only method ofconnecting or disconnecting main power is by connecting ordisconnecting the power cord.1 Plug the power cord into the power socket at the rear of the Switch.2 Plug the other end of the power cord into your power outletThe Switch powers-up and runs through its Power On Self Test (POST),which takes approximately 12 seconds.Checking for CorrectOperationDuring the Power On Self Test, all ports on the Switch are disabled andthe LEDs light in the following sequence: All unit LEDs light Module LEDs light Port Status LEDs light in a rapid cycleWhen the POST has completed, check the Power/Self Test LED to checkthat your Switch is operating correctly. Table 4 shows possible colors forthe LED.
