If the computer still does nothave a Hardware Address, please contact your local Appleauthorized dealer or Apple support.Connecting the Cable Modem1 Power off the computer.2 Use the illustration on page 35 as a guide to make thefollowing connections: Connect the cable line to the cable modem’s CATVcable connector. Be careful not to bend the wire inthe center of the cable line when you connect it tothe cable modem. After hand-tightening the CATVcable connector, use your adjustable wrench tofirmly tighten it. Be careful not to over-tighten theconnector or you may damage either the connectoror the cable modem. If you plan to have the cableline connected to a television as well as to the cablemodem, you will need a cable line splitter (notincluded). Plug the cable modem’s power adapter into a walloutlet or surge protector and into the cablemodem’s power jack. Plug one end of the RJ-45 network cable into thecable modem’s Ethernet port and the other end intothe existing NIC.3 Verify that the cable modem starts up and initializesproperly. When the cable modem is operating properly, thecable modem Link Status and Power LEDs are lighted asolid green.If you are powering up the cable modem for the first time,allow 15 minutes for this process to complete.
