59Figure 56 Upgrade ScreenOnce you have downloaded the software, use the Browse buttonto locate the file on your computer, and then click on Apply.You may need to change the file type in the dialog box displayedby your web browser to *.* to be able to see the file.The file will be copied to the Gateway, and once this hascompleted, the Gateway will restart. Although the upgradeprocess has been designed to preserve your configurationsettings, 3Com recommends that you make a backup of theconfiguration beforehand, in case the upgrade process fails forany reason (for example, the connection between the computerand the Gateway is lost while the new software is being copiedto the Gateway).The upgrade procedure can take a few minutes, and is completewhen the Alert LED has stopped flashing and is permanently off.Make sure that you do not interrupt power to the Gatewayduring the upgrade procedure; if you do, the software may becorrupted and the Gateway may not start up properly afterwards.If the Alert LED comes on continuously after a failed upgrade,refer to “Troubleshooting” on page 61.Viewing Status and LogsSelecting Status and Logs from the Main menu displays theStatus and Logs screens in your Web browser. The Status andLogs screen display a tabular representation of your network andInternet connection.Status - to display the current unit status, including a summary ofthe configuration.
