56 CHAPTER 5: GATEWAY C ONFIGURATIONSome 3Com Wireless Network Adapters allow you to import Wirelessconfigurations via a ‘profile’. The Gateway can generate a profile so thatyou do not need to configure your Wireless PCs manually.The profile contains three items as follows:■ Service Area Name/SSID of the GatewayThis is configured on the Configuration tab under the WirelessSettings option.■ Encryption settings from the GatewayThis is configured on the Encryption tab under the Wireless Settingsoption.■ Profile NameThis is used to identify the profile once it has been imported into theWireless Network Adapter configuration software.To set up a profile (once the Service Area Name/SSID and Encryptionsettings have been configured in the Gateway):1 Enter a Profile Name (up to 25 alphanumeric characters) and then clickSave Profile.2 Your browser will then prompt you to enter a file name and folderlocation in which to save the profile. Once the profile has been saved itcan be copied on to another PC and imported into the 3Com WirelessNetwork Adapter.For instructions on how to import a profile, refer to the User Guide thataccompanies your 3Com Wireless Network Adapter(s).If, once the profile is imported, the Wireless Network Adapter cannotconnect to the Gateway, check that:■ the adapter is within range of the Gatewayif Connection Control has been enabled in the Gateway, the MACaddress of the Wireless Network Adapter must be included in the list ofauthorized Wireless PCs.
