A management workstation connected to a Switch over an IPnetwork.Choosing a Browser To display the web interface correctly, use one of the following Webbrowsers: Netscape Navigator® version 4.5 or above. Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or above.For the browser to operate the web interface correctly JavaScript andCascading Style Sheets must be enabled on your browser. These featuresare enabled on a browser by default. You will only need to enable them ifyou have changed your browser settings.Setting Up Throughthe Console PortTo manage a Switch using the web interface through the consoleport:1 Connect the management workstation to the console port directly usinga standard null modem cable. The console port of the Switch has a male9-pin D-type connector. You can find a pin-out diagram for the cable onpage 43.To connect the cable:a Attach the female connector on the cable to the male connector onthe console port of the Switch.b Tighten the retaining screws on the cable to prevent it from beingloosened.c Connect the other end of the cable to your management workstation.2 Install, configure and run the Serial Web Utility as described in thereadme file on the CD-ROM, that accompanies the utility.
