Cantar v1.29 user manual 2004 Sept 28 p.13Playback8 o’ clockThis selector position opensaccess to the files of the dayonly.Files of the DayMain selector on PLAY, the last recorded file is played.Arrows can be used to browse the files of the day.Once selected, a file is immediately played, press the[white] central button of the main selector to stop it.On the message panel:1. play-mark set by the [black] button or scrub jog.2. playing status:(square) stop [white] button(>) play at sync speed [white] button(x) 2x speed [shift•–>] Back to 1x [shift•<–](-) continue to next file [shift•ok]3. elapsed time from start of take.4. percentage already played.5. real timecode of played sound.6. unique filetag (or scene & take, see pic. caption).7. take length.[Esc] scrolls the characteristics of the played file such assample rate, bit depth, TC numeration.Play-markIf you want to make a pause, while the file is playing laydown a play-mark with the [black] button, then stopwith the [white] button. Resume play by pressing itagain.The latest created play-mark overwrites the formerone.ScrubRotating the jog shifts the play-mark forward andbackward, resulting in a constant 1x forward playingsound which is more intelligible than the stretched andreversed sound generated by other scrubbing meth-ods.To ten times accelerate the search speed, press the[shift] key. Each jog tick makes for a ten instead of aone second jump.LTC fps in PlayWhen playing back a recorded file, the frame rate ofthe LTC sent to the Lemo-5 is the one which has beenapplied during the recording of this file, not the framerate Cantar is currently set to. If you switch to REC, theLTC-out instantly comes back to the frame rate settingof the current project.Browse7 o’clockThis main selector positionopens access to all the folders ofthe current project.Wake up Hdd !When in STOP the disk goes to sleep after one minuteor more (see TECH 9 ‘Hdd power down ’), directly goingfrom there to BROWSE or PLAY shows “sleeping/nodisk detected”. To reactivate the disk make a quickmain selector back & forth movement. Obviously thisprotection is not active on the REC side where thesystem instantly wakes-up in less than 2 seconds!All DaysGo to BROWSE . The current working day shows; togo to other days, press the OK button opening accessto the bottom line, and use the jog and arrows. Validateby OK, the cursor jumps back to the middle line.Jog to ‘files’ and press OK. The last file of the day is dis-played on the bottom line; browse the files by jog orarrows, press OK to select a file.You can now go to PLAY or to PPR to edit its ‘scene& take’ IDs.Note: [shift•eyeball] replaces “filename and length” by“scene & take” in the message panel; this can help finda file.All ProjectsTo explore the complete Hdd you must successivelyselect the various projects it contains., then go to ‘AllDay Files’ (see above).Play1 2 34 56 7[shift•eyeball] toggles“filetag and length”into “scene & take”Browse
