Technical instructionACS250 micro drives, 110-480 VSelecting the start/restart modeOverviewThe ACS250 can be configured to interpret the drive enablesignal in different ways when the drive first powers up. TheACS250 can be configured to automatically run followingpower up if the enable signal to the drive is already present.Alternatively the drive can be programmed to wait for atransition state from off to on following power up to ensurethe drive does not automatically run.The ACS250, when operating in keypad mode, can alsobe configured to enable and run at different initial speeds, depending on the preferences of the application. The drivecan also be configured for keypad speed control (speed setpoint) with enable/disable controlled by the enable input.Additionally the parameter to configure the start/restart modeis also used to activate the auto trip reset function to definewhat actions to take in the event of a trip condition occurringon the drive. All of the parameters and settings associated with thesefunctions are discussed within this technical instruction.Note that parameters 2108 and 1103are located in the long paremeter group(“Par L”).Parameters2108 Start mode select/automatic restart2108=“Edge-r” (Edge run)Drive in terminal mode1103=0The enable signal input (digital input 1) is configured to beedge-triggered and requires the run signal to be reappliedafter a trip or a power up to start the drive. If the run inputis closed prior to the mains power being applied to theACS250, and remains closed while the drive is powered up,the ACS250 will not start.“Edge-r” may be used where, for safety reasons, the driveshould not start automatically on power up should the runswitch already be in a closed state. In this case, the runswitch must be opened and then reclosed before the drivewill start. The same rule applies after clearing/resetting a tripcondition.Drive in keypad mode1103=1 or 2The enable signal input must always be present in order forthe drive to run. The drive will power up in a stop conditionand the start button on the keypad will control drive start.Removal of the enable input will cause the drive to stop. While the enable is present normal start/stop behavior iscontrolled by the start and stop keys on the keypad.
