7. Install temporary grounding as required by the local regulations.8. Ask the person in control of the electrical installation work for a permit to work.Checking the insulation of the resistor circuitDo not make any voltage tolerance or insulation resistance tests on the brake choppermodules. Every brake chopper module has been tested for insulation between the maincircuit and the chassis at the factory.Check the insulation of the brake resistor assembly as follows:1. Check that the resistor cable is connected to the resistor, and disconnected from thechopper output terminals R+ and R-.2. At the brake unit end, connect the R+ and R- conductors of the resistor cable together.Measure the insulation resistance between the combined conductors and the PEconductor by using a measuring voltage of 1 kV DC. The insulation resistance must behigher than 1 Mohm.ohmR-R+General notes■ Printed circuit boardsWARNING!Use a grounding wrist band when you handle printed circuit boards. Do not touchthe boards unnecessarily. The boards contain components sensitive to electrostaticdischarge.■ Optical componentsWARNING!Obey these instructions. If you ignore them, damage to the equipment can occur.• When you unplug the fibre optic cables, always hold the connector, not the cable itself.• Do not touch the ends of the fibers with bare hands as the ends are extremely sensitiveto dirt.• Do not bend the fiber optic cables too tightly. The minimum allowed bend radius is35 mm (1.4”).Electrical installation 4311
