ABB Line Differential Protection and ControlRED615Product version: 1.11MRS756500 Acation, persists. The two high-set stages of theovercurrent protection are further by defaultreleased.13. Access controlTo protect the IED from unauthorized accessand to maintain information integrity, theIED is provided with a four-level, role-basedauthentication system with administrator-programmable individual passwords for theviewer, operator, engineer and administratorlevel. The access control applies to the front-panel user interface, the web-browser baseduser interface and the PCM600 tool.15. Inputs and outputsThe IED is equipped with three phase-currentinputs and one reference-current input forthe CT supervision functionality. The currentinputs are rated 1/5 A. The current inputs 1 Aor 5 A are selected in the IED software. Thebinary input thresholds 18…176 V DC areselected by adjusting the IED’s parameter set-tings. All binary input and output contacts arefreely configurable with the signal matrix toolin PCM600.IED analog input and binary input/outputoverview:• Four current inputs• 11 binary control inputs• Two normally-open heavy-duty poweroutput relays• Four changeover signal-output contacts• One normally open signal-output contact• Two double-pole power-output contactswith trip-circuit supervision• One dedicated IRF output contactOptional I/O extension module:• Six binary control inputs• Three changeover signaling-output con-tacts16. StationcommunicationThe IED supports two different communica-tion protocols: IEC 61850 and Modbus®. Op-erational information and controls are avail-able through these protocols. However, somecommunication functionality, for example, horizontal communication between the IEDs,is only enabled by the IEC 61850 communica-tion protocol. The IEC 61850 communication implemen-tation supports all monitoring and controlfunctions. Additionally parameter setting anddisturbance file records can be accessed us-ing the IEC 61850-8-1 protocol. Further, theIED can send and receive binary signals fromother IEDs (so called horizontal communica-tion) using the IEC 61850-8-1 GOOSE profile, where the highest performance class with atotal transmission time of 3 ms is supported. The IED can simultaneously report to fiveclients on the station bus.All communication connectors, except for thefront port connector, are placed on integratedcommunication modules. The IED can beconnected to Ethernet-based communicationsystems via the RJ-45 connector (100BASE-TX). If connection to an RS-485 network isrequired, the 9-pin screw-terminal connectorcan be used. Further, for serial communica-tion over a fibre-optic cable an ST-connectoris available.Modbus implementation supports RTU, ASCIIand TCP modes. Besides standard Modbusfunctionality, the IED supports retrieval oftime-stamped events, uploading of distur-
