A2 - Maintenance and troubleshootingIntroduction Correct maintenance of the unit and connected devices ensures they operate correctly over timeThe maintenance operations must be performed by expert personnel, as required by the safety regulationsand maintenance schedule (see recipients, Safety requirements and Maintenance schedule).If faults are discovered, find out what is causing them and eliminate them before putting the unit back intoservice.WARNING! Detecting faults must only be managed by (electrically) skilled persons(IEV 195-04-01: person with relevant education and experience to enable him or herto perceive risks and to avoid hazards which electricity can create), as it may benecessary to perform insulation and dielectric tests on part or all the installationInspections and generalcleaningPerform the following inspections:• check to make sure that Ekip Touch is clean. Remove any dust and traces of other materials with a clean,dry cloth (use a mild detergent if necessary; a laminate thinner such as Henkel 273471 or Chemma 18 orequivalent can be used if there is a heavy coating of dirt)• check that there are no foreign objects near the connectors or terminalsInspection of Ekip Touch Perform the inspections described in chapter 1 - Putting into service, including an inspection of the state orthe wiring, modules and accessories:• verification of alarms• check that the modules (internal and external modules) are present and connected• check zone selectivity connections• check the MOE-E stored energy operating mechanism• check the circuit breaker status by means of AUP if the CB is a withdrawable versionNOTE: the limitations and notes given for each point in the respective paragraphs are applicableMaintenance schedule The frequency with which Ekip Touch maintenance is scheduled differs, depending on the conditions in theinstallation site:Standard environments Dusty environments(level of dust measured > 1mg/m3)Frequency ofmaintenanceOne year or 2000 operations or aftertripping due to short circuitEvery six months or 1000 operations orafter a short-circuit tripAlarms displayed andsuggestionsA list of faults that may appear on the Ekip Touch display is given below along with suggestions on how toresolve them:Signal SuggestionsNumerical alarm(e.g. 30002) Internal error; contact ABB if this typoe of error occursBattery lowChange the battery:1. make sure that Trip unit is off and that CB is: Open.2. Remove cover from front of battery compartment3. Remove battery using a flat-head screwdriver4. Insert a new battery. Comply with the polarity indicated on the plastic part of theCB and close the cover5.
