235. EngineeringThis section guides when performing the engineering tasks required before usingSPA-ZC 402.Note that all the possible engineering scenarios are not included in thismanual. You must have engineering rights to be able to perform thetasks described in this section.5.1. Overview of engineeringThe engineering and maintenance of SPA-ZC 402 is done by using CET forSPA-ZC 40x functions. The device's communication structure is described in theProject Explorer dialog. The structure is built by using device objects. These objectshave communication properties that can be accessed through the Object Propertiesdialog. These properties define for example the IP addresses, unit addresses, anddescriptions.The communication structure consists of SPA devices.When the structure is complete and all the objects have been set up properly, theconfiguration is downloaded through FTP to SPA-ZC 402 by using the CID(Configured IED Description) Export function.The engineering tasks are the following:1. Building an object tree by adding a device to the configuration2. Configuring object properties, for example modifying TCP/IP address3. Configuring SPA communication parameters4. Exporting configuration data to SPA-ZC 4025.2. Application notesSince the SPA protocol is designed to be used in a defined environment on seriallines with one master only, it has some deficiencies when using it on top of otherprotocols, for example on TCP/IP.The SPA protocol does not have a mechanism for linking poll and responsemessages together, only mechanism to order the messages . If the order is disturbed,for example, by unpredictable delays or message duplication in the network, thedata consistency cannot be guaranteed.
