Read and Save These Instructions Form 613083For the PVD with hurricane construction that complies withFlorida Building Code including High Velocity HurricaneZones (HVHZ) see the ADDITIONAL INSTALLATION ANDMAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS on page 4.GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATIONWARNING: ROTATING PARTS & ELECTRICAL SHOCKHAZARDFans should be installed and serviced by qualified personnelonly. Improper installation can result in electric shock,possible injury due to coming in contact with moving parts, aswell as other potential hazards.1. Follow all local electrical and safety codes, as well asNational Electrical Code (NEC) and the National FireProtection Agency (NFPA), were applicable.2. Disconnect electric power before working on unit (prior toremoval of guards or entry into access doors).3. Follow proper lockout/tag out procedures to ensure theunit cannot be energized while being installed or serviced.4. Ensure the power cable does not kink or come in contactwith oil, grease, hot surfaces or chemicals. Ensure thepower source is compatible with the equipment.5. Air that is allowed to move through a non-powered fan willallow the propeller to rotate, which is referred to as wind-milling. Impellers should be blocked to prevent rotationwhen installing or servicing the fan.RECEIVING AND INSPECTIONImmediately upon receipt of a shipment, carefully inspectfor damage and shortage. Turn the impeller by hand to seethat it turns freely and does not bind. If any damage and/orshortage is detected or suspected, the carrier must be askedto conduct an inspection. The consignee’s representativeshould not accept a shipment without a notation on thedelivery receipt indicating items not delivered or the apparentextent of damage.When a shipment is opened and damage is found which wasnot evident externally (concealed damage), it is mandatorythat the consignee request an immediate inspection by thecarrier. Report any damage to the carrier within 15 days.Failure to report damage within the above time limit will resultin rejection of a claim.HANDLINGWhen handling fans and their accessories, always useequipment and methods that will not cause damage. Fansshould be lifted using slings and padding or spreaders toavoid damage.CAUTION! Always make sure that all lifting and handlingequipment and techniques conform to current safetystandards.Avoid lifting fans in a way that will bend or distort fan parts.Never pass slings or timbers through the orifices of fan.CAUTION! Do not lift by the fan hood. Fans with specialcoatings or paints must be protected in handling to preventdamage.STORAGEFans are protected against damage during shipment. Ifthey cannot be installed and put into operation immediatelyupon receipt certain precautions are necessary to preventdeterioration during storage. Responsibility for integrity offans and accessories during storage must be assumed by theuser. The manufacturer will not be responsible for damageduring storage. These suggestions are provided solely as aconvenience to the user, who shall make his own decision asto whether to use any or all of them.INDOOR: The ideal storage environment for fans andaccessories is indoors, above grade, in a low humidityatmosphere which is sealed to prevent the entry of blowingdust, rain, or snow. Temperatures should be evenly maintainedat between 70°F and 105°F (wide temperature swings maycause condensation and “sweating” of metal parts). Windowsshould be covered to prevent temperature variations causedby sunlight. Provide thermometers and humidity indicators atseveral points and maintain the atmosphere at 40% relativehumidity, or lower.It may be necessary to use trays of renewable desiccant orportable dehumidifier to remove moisture from the air in thestorage enclosure.Thermostatically controlled portable heaters (vented tooutdoors) may be required to maintain even temperaturesinside the enclosure.CAUTION! Provide fire extinguishers, or fire alarms, oremergency response communication to protect building andequipment against fire damage. Be sure that building andstorage practices meet all local, state and federal fire andsafety codes.The following fans or accessories must be stored indoors, ina clean dry atmosphere:a.
