1Section 61104020L4-5, Issue 361104020L4-5C1. GENERALThis practice provides installation and maintenanceprocedures for the ADTRAN D4 U-BR1TE V w/PWRand DDS Loopbacks, P/N 1104020L4. Figure 1 is anillustration of the U-BR1TE V.ISDN/DDSThe U-BR1TE employs features for both ISDN andDDS transport. ISDN comprises the majorfunctionality and is described in this section. Adescription of DDS functionality is located inSection 3.Revision HistoryIssue 3 of this document includes 2B leased modeoperation and revises the CLEI code.Section 61104020L4-5CIssue 3, May 2002CLEI Code: D4C5BENB_ _D4 U-BR1TE V w/PWR and DDS LoopbacksISDN 2B1Q InterfaceInstallation and MaintenanceFunctional DescriptionThe U-BR1TE V is a line card that plugs into a singlechannel slot of an AT&T D4/SLC® -96 channel bank.It provides an ISDN U-interface and allows thetransport of Basic Rate 2B+D information over T1carriers and twisted pair wiring. The U-BR1TE Vcombines the functionality of a standard U-BR1TE Vand a U-Repeater Powering Module which willsimplify the installation of the U-Repeater. Spanpowering also allows deployment of 2-wire DDSwhen an IDSL OCU-R is used to terminate the ISDNlocal loop. This eliminates the need to provide ACpower at the customer premises. The U-BR1TE V is used at both the Central OfficeTerminal and Remote Terminal locations. Clearchannel capability (B8ZS) is not required of the T1facility if zero byte substitution is enabled. TheU-BR1TE V plugs into a single channel slot of the D4bank, but can require three time slots whentransporting 2B+D information. Block error rateperformance over the T1 facility is monitored and isavailable to the network.CONTENTS1. GENERAL .................................................................. 12.
