GENERALThis practice provides installation and maintenanceinformation for the ADTRAN ® Intelligent 2-Wire ForeignExchange Station/Dial Pulse Originate (2FXS/DPO PM)Dataport with Performance Monitoring, part number1109403L2. It is a D4 compatible channel unit andoperates in any standard D4 channel bank. Intelligentfeatures requires the unit to be used in the ADTRAN ACT2300, ACT 1900 , or standard WECO® D4 channel bankusing the ADTRAN LIU-3/PM common unit. The 2FXS/DPO PM provides an interface between a D4 channelbank Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) backplane interfaceand a 2-wire voice frequency (VF) transmission andsignaling facility. Figure 1 is an illustration of the 2FXS/DPO PM. The unit is multifunctional and can beprovisioned to operate in the following modes:• 2-Wire Foreign Exchange Station (2FXS)• Dial Pulse Originate (DPO)• Tandem FXS Mode• Private Line Auto Ringdown (PLAR)Section 61109403L2-5Issue 3, November 1997CLEI Code: D4F1DFJ_ _ _2FXS/DPO PMFOREIGN EXCHANGE STATION/DIAL PULSE ORIGINATE DATAPORTWITH PERFORMANCE MONITORINGINSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCEPRACTICESFigure 1. 2FXS/DPOC A U T I O N !SUBJECT TO ELECTROSTATIC DAMAGEOR DECREASE IN RELIABILITY.HANDLING PRECAUTIONS REQUIRED.Using the FXS/DPO PM in an intelligent channel bankprovides additional features and functions such as:• Local and Remote Provisioning using either the craftinterface or ADTRAN Site Manager through a menudriven program called EASYMENU™• Performance monitoring of the loop• Network and customer side monitoring and analysis• Enhanced Test CapabilitiesRevision HistoryRevisions to this practice include CLEI code and dipswitch settings.Features• Backplane interface to the Pulse Code Modulation(PCM) bus.• On board coder/decoder (CODEC) uses μ-lawencoding/decoding.• Nominal 600 ohm or 900 ohm 2-Wire VF interface withDC isolation.Trademarks: Any brand names and product names included in this document are trademarks, registered trademarks, or trade namesof their respective holders.2FXS/DPO1109403L2PMAPREMPMTESTBUSYSW 4 SW 3 SW 2 SW 1SW 7CONTENTS1.
