Use s and r to scrollthrough the list of nine options.3. Press the Show softkey toconfigure an option.4. Use the softkeys to change aselected option.5. Press the Done softkey at anytime to exit the option, or press£ to exit the Optionslist.The following nine options may bechanged on the Model 470:1.Language – Select a language forthe display prompts (English,French, or Spanish).2.Time / Date – Use this option tochange the time and date setting onthe display. Press the appropriatesoftkey to increase that item by 1.For example, press the Hour softkeyto increase the hour from 1 to 2.Note: The time and date are auto-matically set when the phonereceives its first Caller ID†call.3. Set ring tone – Press the Changesoftkey to select one of four ringtones.4. Clear Msg. Wtg. – Sometimes theMessage Waiting prompt willappear and the light will flash whenthere are no messages waiting onyour Voice Mail† service. When inthis option, select the Clear softkeyto clear the prompt and flashinglight. The light will flash againwhen there are new messageswaiting.5. Area Code – In some locations,you cannot dial a local numberusing the area code. By default,incoming calls are recorded witharea codes in the Callers List. Thisoption allows you to enter up tothree local area codes to be removedfrom incoming calls. Press theChange softkey to enter an areacode.6. Contrast Level – Use the Changesoftkey to cycle through 8 contrastsettings, which brighten or darkenthe display.7. Security Numbers – This optionallows you to keep selectednumbers from appearing on thescreen when dialed. Use this optionto protect passwords, access codesetc. When a security number isused, your telephone displays theasterisk * symbol for all digitsentered after the security numberand the digits do not appear in theRedial list display. Up to threesecurity numbers can be createdusing this option. Press the Changesoft key and then enter your code.8. Live Dialpad – Use this option toturn on or off the dial pad mode.With live dialpad on, the telephoneautomatically dials out and turns onHandsfree as soon a dial pad key orsoftkey is pressed. With livedialpad off, you must dial thenumber first and then lift thehandset or press the d/f buttonbefore the number is dialed. Pressthe Change soft key to turn on or offthe dial pad mode.9. Set Audio – The Model 470telephone allows you to use ahandset, headset or handsfree to
