Model 1 User Guide 7Making and Answering CallsMaking and AnsweringCallsPredialing a numberPredialing lets you view a numberbefore you dial. Enter the numberusing the dial pad before lifting thehandset. Use the Backspace softkeyor 3 to correct any errors. To dialthe number, lift the handset, orpress the Dial softkey, or press d.Note: This feature is not available ifyou choose to use the LiveDialPad option. See the sec-tion "Customizing yourphone" for more information.Handsfree CallingThe Handsfree feature allows you tospeak to someone without using thehandset. To dial using Handsfree,enter a number and then press dor the Dial softkey. To answer usingHandsfree, press d when a call isringing. To switch betweenHandsfree and the handset whenthe handset is off hook, press d.When the handset is on hook, pressd to disconnect a Handsfree call.When Handsfree is on, the speakerlight turns on. When the speakerlight is on, press a at any time tomute Handsfree. The speaker lightwill flash and you will hear thecaller, but they will not hear you. Toswitch between Handsfree andmute press a.Note: Handsfree operation asdescribed above will beaffected and may be disabledif the set audio option hasbeen activated. See the sec-tion "Customizing yourphone" for more information.Timing a callWhen you make or answer a call,the Timer shows the elapsed time ofthe call.Using FlashThe Flash softkey allows you toaccess telephone companysubscribed services, such as callwaiting and three-way calling.These services vary from area toarea, so contact your telephonecompany for instructions on usingavailable services with your Model1 telephone. If theseinstructions say to press the ìhook-switchî or ìreceiver button,î pressthe Flash softkey.Extension in UseThe Extension in use promptappears on the telephone displayand the telephone status light turnson when someone uses anothertelephone on the same line.This message also appears when thetelephone is not properly connectedto a phone line.Using the Redial ListThe Redial List records the last 10numbers you dialed.Redialing a number1. Press ∑ to view theRedial List.2. Use the sr keys to movethe cursor to the number youwant to dial.3. Lift the handset to dial thenumber, or press the Dialsoftkey or d to dial thenumber using Handsfree.Deleting the Redial List1. Press ∑ to view theRedial List.2. Press the DeleteList softkey.3.
