20 9133i IP Phone User GuideMaking CallsMaking CallsThis section describes ways tomake calls on your 9133i phone,using your handset, speakerphoneor headset.Dialing a NumberFirst, take the phone off-hook by:• lifting the handset• pressing q or• pressing a line/call appearancebutton.At the dial tone, enter the numberyou wish to call. If you are unableto make calls within certain areacodes, check with your systemadministrator for any tollrestrictions placed on yourextension that may restrict youraccess to long distance area codesor dialing prefixes.When your party picks up, a timerappears on your display thatrecords the length of your call.Using Handsfree SpeakerphoneThe handsfree feature allows youto speak to someone without usingthe handset or headset. Yourphone must be in either theSpeaker or Speaker/Headset audiomode. You can set your desiredaudio mode through #7. HeadsetSettings in the Options list. Formore information, see the section"Customizing Your Phone" in the9133i Installation Guide.• To dial using handsfree, firstpress q and enter anumber at the dial tone.• To answer a call on your phoneusing handsfree, pressq or the line/callappearance button.• If you are in Speaker audiomode, lift the handset and pressq to switch betweenhandsfree and handset.• If you are in Speaker/headsetaudio mode, press qto switch between handsfreeand headset.• When the handset is on hook,press N to disconnect thecall. When handsfree is on, thespeaker light turns on.Using a HeadsetThe 9133i accepts headsets throughthe modular RJ9 jack on the backof the phone. Contact yourtelephone equipment retailer ordistributor to purchase acompatible headset.NOTE: Customers should read andobserve all safety recommen-dations contained in headsetoperating guides when usingany headset.Advanced Volume Controls forthe Headset MicOn the 9133i, there are 3 optionsfor the headset microphonevolume.To change the volume:1. Press I to enter theoptions list.2. Use V to scroll down the listof options to 7. HeadsetSettings and press U to select,IP Phone UI=DialIP Phone UI
