PARKING SENSORS(for versions/markets, where provided)Parking sensors are located in therear bumper fig. 62 and detect andinform the driver, through anintermittent acoustic signal, of thepresence of obstacles at the rear of thecar.ACTIVATIONThe sensors are automatically activatedwhen reverse is engaged. As theobstacle behind the car gets closer, theacoustic signal becomes morefrequent.ACOUSTIC SIGNALWhen reverse is engaged and there isan obstacle behind the car an acousticsignal is activated and the signal variesas the distance of the obstacle fromthe bumper varies. The frequency of the acoustic signal:❒ increases as the distance betweenthe car and the obstacle decreases;❒ becomes continuous when thedistance between the car and theobstacle is less than 30 cm andstops immediately if the distanceincreases;❒ is constant if the distance betweenthe car and the obstacle isunchanged. If this situation concernsthe side sensors, the signal willstop after approximately 3 secondsto avoid, for example, indicationsin the event of manoeuvres along awall.Detection distancesIf several obstacles are detected by thesensors, only the nearest one isconsidered.INDICATIONS ONDISPLAYWhen the sensors are activated, thescreen in fig. 63 appears on the display.Obstacle presence and distanceinformation is therefore provided bothby the acoustic signal and theinstrument panel display. The systemindicates a detected obstacle bydisplaying an arc in one or morepositions according to the distance ofthe obstacle and its position in relationto the car.If an obstacle is detected in the rearcentral area, the display shows all thearcs in the rear central area, up tothe one that corresponds to theposition of the obstacle itself. The signalis similar for obstacles in the rear leftor right area. The arc that correspondsto the position of the obstacle will flash. The colour on the display depends onthe distance from and position of theobstacle. The car is close to theobstacle when the display shows asingle constant arc and emits acontinuous sound. If there are severalobstacles, the closest approaching oneis indicated.62 AB0A012558 GETTING TO KNOW YOUR CAR
