SuperShadow – a full bandwidth drop shadow.SurfaceFX – combines the powerful texture and light sourcemodeling tools with the advanced UltraWarp feature. Youcan use any 8150 source, including video and key inputs, theSuperMatte generator, or the Framestores, as the source for atexture.Four independent input freeze buffers (two for video, two fortextures).UltraWarp – an advanced image warping feature.Channel configurations – one of the features that makes the8150 DVE option unique is its flexible channel configuration. The main channel is dedicated for video, and the secondchannel can be used for video, key, or shadow. The A videotransformation path is a full bandwidth video channel. The Bchannel can process key signals (luminance only), but is alsoa full bandwidth video channel. This lets the DVE boardoperate in three modes:Video + Video – you can control both video channelsindependently; there is no key channel in this mode.Video + Key – you can control the video channel and keychannel independently.Video/Key + Shadow – you can control the combinedvideo/key channel and the drop shadow channelindependently.System ComponentsThe 8150 is a flexible system that you can configure to accommodate avariety of applications. Figure 1-1 shows the main system components.Physically, the 8150 system consists of a rack mounted Signal ProcessorChassis and one or more Control Panels. You can connect up to fourControl Panels to a Signal Chassis on the Control Panel serial datacommunications chain. The Control Panel maximum chain length is2000 feet (610 meters) for all Control Panels on the chain. There are three LED indicators on the front of the Signal Chassis:Left (Green) – Lights to indicate that +5VDC from the power supplyis present.Center (Green) – Lights to indicate that the main switchermicroprocessor is running.Right (Amber) – Lights to indicate SCSI hard drive activity.System Components 8150 Technical Guide1-2 Introduction 9100-0212-04 - May 2000
