Direct Gas Make-Up Air46Evaporative Cooling ModuleThe media must periodically be brushed lightly witha soft bristle brush in an up and down motion whileflushing with water. This aids in reducing the amount ofmineral build-up.For large amounts of mineral build-up, clean or replacethe media and increase the water bleed-off or drain andfill rate. The cooling media has a useful life of 3 to 5 yearsdepending on the water quality and the bleed-off ordrain and fill rate. When reinstalling the evaporative media, make sure thatit is installed correctly.Replacement media must be from the samemanufacturer and be the same size as the originalmedia provided with the unit.Cooling CoilsRepair and replacement of the coil and the connectingpiping, valves, etc., must be performed by a qualifiedindividual.Inspect the coil for signs of corrosion and/or leaks.Repair any leaks as required.Inspect the coil’s surface for foreign material. If the coilsurface needs cleaning, clean the coil from the leavingair-side so that foreign material will be washed out ofthe coil rather than pushed farther in.Inspect and clean the drain pan to prevent the growth ofalgae and other organisms.Be sure to read and follow the coil manufacturer’srecommendations before using any cleaning fluid.Caution must be used to avoid injury when venting thecoil. High pressure and/or high temperature fluids cancause serious injuries.Leaving AirEntering Air45º15ºMedia OrientationMotorsMotor maintenance is generally limited to cleaning andlubrication (where applicable).Limit cleaning to exterior surfaces only. Removing dustand grease build-up on the motor assures proper motorcooling.Grease motors supplied with grease fittings inaccordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.Do not allow water or solvents to enter the motor orbearings. Never spray motors and bearings with steam, water or solvents.Greasing motors is only intended when fittings areprovided. Many motors are permanently lubricated, requiring no additional lubrication.FiltersFilter maintenance is generally limited to cleaning andreplacement. If aluminum mesh filters are installed, they can bewashed in warm soapy water. An adhesive spray can be added to aluminum meshfilters to increase their efficiency. If disposable filters are installed, they can be checkedby holding up to a light source. If light cannot passthrough the filter, it must be replaced. When reinstalling filters, be sure to install them with theairflow in the correct direction. An airflow direction arrowis located on the side of the filters.Replacement filters must be from the samemanufacturer and the same size as the original filtersprovided with the unit.Chilled Water CoilsTest the circulating fluid for sediment, corrosiveproducts and biological contaminants. Take thenecessary corrective measures.Maintain adequate fluid velocities and proper filtering ofthe fluid. If automatic air vents are not utilized, periodic venting ofthe coil is recommended to remove accumulated air.MaintenanceGeneral
