The following table describes the main checkpoints where the DIM module is accessed.POST Error IndicatorsWhen a system error is detected during POST (Power On Self Text), the Setup utility will switch to diagnosticmode and will either:• Displays a POST error message, or• Emits a series of beep codesPOST Error MessagesPOST error messages tell users what failure the system has detected. Some error messages could be relatedto a hardware device. Others may indicate a problem with a device configuration. In some cases an errormessage may include recommendations for troubleshooting or require that you press the Enter key to displayrecommendations. Follow the instructions on the screen. It is recommended that you correct the error beforeproceeding, even if the computer appears to boot successfully.Checkpoint Description2A Initialize different buses and perform the following functions: Reset, Detect, and Disable(function 0); Static Device Initialization (function 1); Boot Output Device Initialization(function 2). Function 0 disables all device nodes, PCI devices, and PnP ISA cards. It alsoassigns PCI bus numbers. Function 1 initializes all static devices that include manualconfigured onboard peripherals, memory and I/O decode windows in PCI-PCI bridges,and noncompliant PCI devices. Static resources are also reserved. Function 2 searchesfor and initializes any PnP, PCI, or AGP video devices.38 Initialize different buses and perform the following functions: Boot Input DeviceInitialization (function 3); IPL Device Initialization (function 4); General Device Initialization(function 5). Function 3 searches for and configures PCI input devices and detects ifsystem has standard keyboard controller. Function 4 searches for and configures all PnPand PCI boot devices.
