ARIR201QuickStartGuideCongratulations on purchasing your new Acoustic Research Wi-Fi Infinite Radio.Please follow these instructions to set up and start using the radio.www.arinfiniteradio.comUnpack the unitYou should find the following items in the box:Additional requirements• Broadband Internet service• Broadband (cable/DSL) modem, usually supplied by your Internet service provider• An 802.11 b or g (Wi-Fi) wireless home network or Ethernet router/switch/hub with available LANportFor Wi-Fi connections, you may also need:• Your wireless network’s SSID• Your access password (for secure networks)Set up your AR Infinite Radio accountsTo simplify setup on the radio please complete these steps:A. Find the Setup Information Card that contains your radio’s MAC address number (MAC: 00-21-2A-XX-XX-XX) and activation PIN # (PIN: XXXX). (This number is also found in the Device Info screenunder the Settings menu in your radio.)B. Using any Internet-connected computer, go to www.arinfiniteradio.com/setup and follow theonline instructions.• You will need to input your radio’s MAC address and PIN # to associate your radio with yourpersonal settings.RadioSetupInformationCardEthernet cableQuick StartGuide (thisleafl et)!Power adapter AM loop antenna12Optional: Insert AAA batteries in the base of the radioFollow the polarity markers in the batterycompartment.The batteries (not included) power the clock andalarm whenever the radio loses electricity.Plug in and turn on the radioOptional: For use with a “Wired” connectionUse the supplied Ethernet cable if you do not have a wireless (Wi-Fi) access point.LANLANLANBroadband modem orEthernet router/hub/switchElectrical outletPress and release preset 1, thenSLEEP/SNOOZE, then preset 6.Exit the DEMO mode afterturning on435A. NOTE: When you turn on the radio for the first time, it will bein “DEMO” mode. To exit this mode, press and release preset 1,then SLEEP/SNOOZE, then preset 6 on top of the radio.B. After exiting the DEMO mode, the radiodisplays the Select Language screen.Choose your preferred language.C. The Network Setup screen displaysconnection options:• Select Wired to connect using anEthernet cable and proceed to step D.OR• Select Wireless, then choose from setup options displayed:– Detect Networks allows you to search for available networks,then choose your network.– Use WPS allows you to select from Push Button Mode or PINMode to pair up with open WPS router.– Enter network SSID allows you to manually enter a knownnetwork name (SSID). See tips to the right.– If the network is secure, select security type and/or enter yourpassword in the Network Security screen.D. The radio should now connect to the Internet. If the radio doesnot connect refer to the troubleshooting section in your usermanual.After connecting to the Internet• If you did not activate your InfiniteRadio accounts, or if the radio cannotget your details from the Infinite Radioserver, the radio may ask for yourcountry. Input your country. Selectyour country and then input your ZIP code (US), Postal code(Canada)or city (Mexico) accordingly.• If your radio has successfully connected to the Internet you willhear a welcome message streaming from the Internet.Set up the radio Use thenavigationcontrols tomake choicesand inputinformation:− move highlight up– move highlight down– move selection/navigateleft– move selection/navigaterightSELECT - confirm selectedoption or characterWhen inputting characters,press or to choose amonguppercase, lowercase, numeric,or special characters.To insert spaces or correctmistakes, press to display theCommands list and then pressor to choose the desiredcommand.About passphrase:• This radio supports securedaccess points using theWireless Equivalent Privacy(WEP) keys or Wi-Fi ProtectedAccess (WPA and WPA2)standards.• WEP keys are either 10 or26 characters long (e.g.6E78214A52). Note thatsome Wi-Fi routers supportpassphrase generation forWEP security. However, thereis no industry standard forWEP passphrase generationand this radio does notsupport WEP passphrases.• If you are using a WEPsecured access point, enterthe WEP key (HEX format)instead of the passphrase.6Learn more about your Infinite RadioVisit www.arinfiniteradio.com to download the user manual for your radio.
