Drill a 3/8" hole in the PVC exhaust vent pipingapproximately 18" above where the PVC exitsthe side of the furnace for your combustionanalysis equipment. (Seal with RTV siliconewhen finished conducting combustion analysis).BURNER ADJUSTMENT1) Operate burner for 15 minutes beforeconducting test work.2) Adjust burner settings until a trace (0-1 ona smoke scale of 10) is obtained with smoketest pump.3) Read C02%. This should beapproximately 13.0%.4) Increase air to burner to reduce C02% 1.0to 1.5% less than where you were able toobtain a trace of smoke. This procedure allows a margin of reserve forvariable conditions.5) Re-check smoke to insure it is O.Your final C02% should beapproximately 11.5%Check vent stack temperatures as below:M0DELAPPROX.AMBIENTPLUSSTACKTEMP F.INPUTRATETHERMALEFFICIENCY50 20-24 58,000 97-99%75 27-31 82,000 95-97%100 29-33 100,000 94-96%125 38-42 115,000 92-94%Temperature RiseTemperature rise must be within the rangebelow. An incorrect temperature rise mayresult in condensing in or overheating of theheat exchanger.Determine and adjUst temperature rise asfollows:Model Temp. Ensure allregisters are open and all duct dampers arein their final (fully or partially open) position.2. Place thermometers in the return and supplyducts as close to the furnace as possible.Thermometers must not be influenced byradiant heat by being able to "see" the heatexchangerHEAT EXCHANGERRADIATION "LINE OF SIGHT"~ SUPPLYL..,/ AIRiT'U""Temperature Rise Measurement3. Subtract the return air temperature fromthe supply air temperature to determine theair temperature rise. Allow adequate timefor thermometer readings to stabilize.4. Adjust temperature rise by adjusting thecirculator blower speed. Increase blowerspeed to reduce temperature rise.Decrease blower speed to increasetemperature rise.Set thermostat heat anticipator setting at 0.2 Aas a base point. Operate furnace and measureanticipation amperage and adjust thermostat tomanufacturer's instructions.CIRCULATOR BLOWER SPEEDSThis furnace is equipped with a mUlti-speedcirculator blower. This blower provides ease inadjusting blower speeds. These blower speedsshould be adjusted by the installer to match theinstallation requirements so as to provide thecorrect heating temperature rise and correctcooling CFM.To adjust the circulator blower speed, proceedas follows:1. Turn OFF power to the furnace.2. Relocate desired motor leads to thecirculator blower terminals on the terminalblock as required.3. Turn ON power to furnace.4. Verify proper temperature rise as outlined inSection XIV, Startup Procedure andAdjustment - Temperature Rise.18
