21 Chapter 1 Product Information1.6.3 Installing a DIMMNote: Notes on memory limitations:1. Due to chipset limitations, this motherboard canonly support up to 8 GB on the operating sys-tems listed below. You may install a maximumof 2 GB DIMMs on each slot, but only DDR2-533 and DDR2-667 2 GB density modules areavailable for this configuration.2. Some old-version DDR2-800/667 DIMMs maynot match IntelÆís On-Die-Termination (ODT)requirement and will automatically downgradeto run at DDR2-533. If this happens, contactyour memory vendor to check the ODT value.3. Due to chipset limitations, the DDR2-800 withCL=4 will be downgraded to run at DDR2-667by default. If you want to operate with lowerlatency, adjust the memory timing manually.4. Due to chipset limitations, the DDR2-667 withCL=3 will be downgraded to run at DDR2-533by default. If you want to operate with lowerlatency, adjust the memory timing manually.5. The total memory may have an 8MB reductionunder Single Channel mode, and a 16MBreduction under Dual Channel mode becausethe address space is reserved for the IntelÆvProô Technology and the IntelÆ Quiet Sys-tem Technology.Caution! Unplug the power supply before adding or removingDIMMs or other system components. Failure to do socan cause severe damage to both the motherboardand the components.
